A. INTRODUCTION
The main goal of the international competition, organised by ARCHIDEX is to solicit new innovative
architectural and urbanistic ideas dealing with current issues and challenges. The competition
expects to generate thoughtful and provocative ideas that truly benefit mankind. A design challenge
for the competition is to define architecture by proposing a design solution ranging from urban to
architectural scale. Beyond a simple design competition, ARCHITALENT will continue to encourage
creation, audacity and the capacity to imagine visions in realizing the world of the built environment.
B. THEME
‘THE REALM’
The architecture of the built environment can now be experienced in both the physical and virtual
world. We are living in a realm of physical environment in which all parts of the built environment
challenges our daily life. Today, people would also be said to live together in an immersive,
collective and hyper-realistic virtual environment. How would these realities be made possible?
THE REALM challenges us to design the living reality by defining architecture that would be able to
address the real need of mankind; intelligence, emotional and spiritual. For instance, how would
designers deliver architectural solutions that would be able to fit as much as possible the targets of
17 goals of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals? How would THE REALM address
the challenges of past themes; Social Architecture (2017), Space (2018), Architecture 4.0: Towards
Building A Better Nation (2019) and Future City (2022)?
ARCHITALENT 2023 invites all architecture students to explore the endless possibilities within the
architectural knowledge base in the big data world that is so large, fast and complex. The ideal
proposal must be critical of the reality of the built environment within the abstract sphere of
influence, be it real or imagined. The domain of architecture; THE REALM shall be founded and
created in the realization of an innovative environment for the people.
