Debate script

(Shourya)-
Good morning, respected principal ma’am, vice principal ma’am, our honorable judges, teachers
and the fellow members of the audience. I (Shourya Desai) and (I Shreaya Padhy), we warmly
welcome you to the Inter-House Debate Competition. The topic is “nationalism is an impediment
in the growth of spirit of globalisation.”

We would like to introduce you to our judges.
Today we have here with us is Mrs. Anjaly Banarji.
As India's first International Baccalaureate certified online workshop developer and facilitator,
Mrs. Anjaly Banarji has been developing and leading IB certified online courses for IB Diploma
program teacher development for more than a decade now having certified more than 1600
teachers across the globe to teach in IB world schools. Mrs. Anjaly Banarji has had an active
experience in the academic field of 34 years, serving as an educator or the head of school
director of international admissions and administration. Being an alumnus of Lady Shri Ram
College, she has graduated with a Bachelor and a master degree in economic honors and
mathematics. She also has a national merit scholarship for her B.Ed. Bachelor of Education.
She has been extending frontiers of knowledge through her engagement in education of the girl
child in the social sector. Recently, her project on STEM education 'Open to the sky lab' during
COVID times has been selected from India for the HLPF of UN.

Next, we have Mrs. Anjali Patwardhan. After completing her graduation in commerce from
Rajasthan university she pursued a course in travel and tourism and started her career as a
travel counselor. She did her NTT post-marriage and switched over to teaching kindergarten
due to frequent relocations being an army wife. She further completed a PG diploma in pre-
primary teaching from symbiosis Pune. She has also volunteered with special needs children at
Asha kiran in Pune itself. Right now she is pursuing a Pg diploma in school counselling from
symbiosis. She is also a voice over and dubbing artist.
She has published 2 books on poetry. The first one being “Unfrozen wings” in October 2019 and
another book exactly 2 years down the line titled “A moment without dimension”
She is currently working on her next collections of poems.

Moving forward to the rules of this debate:
1) Each house will be represented by 1 team comprising of 3 students. At least 1 girl and 1
boy student must be a part of the team.
2) Each team will comprise of- 1 student speaking for the motion.

1 interjector
3) Each speaker will get 4 minutes only to put forward his/her thoughts. A warning bell will
ring at the end of 3 minutes and 30 seconds. On exceeding the time limit 2 marks will be
deducted after every 10 seconds. A speech less than 3 minutes will attract negative
marking.
4) It is mandatory for each interjector to ask atleast 2 questions. The interjector will be
evaluated on the basis of both the questions.
5) In case the the mandatory quota for the 2 questions is not asked he/she will attract
negative marking.
6) It is mandatory for each speaker to face one interjector for evaluation. In case the
speaker is not interjected even once he/she will be questioned by a judge and will be
evaluated on the basis of the response.
7) Reading from the paper will not be allowed.
8) It is mandatory for the speaker and interjector to speak using the podium mick and not
otherwise.
9) In case of a tie among the scores of the 2 teams for the winning position, the tie will be
broken by discarding the scores of the 2 interjectors. Only speakers scores will then be
calculated to decide upon a definite number.
10) The decision of the judges will be final.
11) The criteria for judgement are- 1) Organisation of argument
2) Memory
3) Pronunciation
4) Presentation style
