A SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN HEALTH 9

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson the students should be able to learn at least 85-90% accuracy.

 demonstrate proper techniques in carrying and transporting the victim of unintentional


injuries
 demonstrate proper first aid procedures for common unintentional injuries
 assess emergency situations for unintentional injuries properly; and
 consider the safety of all as utmost priority at home, school, and community

REFERENCES : Grade 9 Learners Materials (MAPEH for today’s learner) Q3
pages 434 to 443
MATERIALS : Laptop, • Cloth, gaze and triangular bandage
TIME FRAME : 1 hour

 This afternoon, we will be discussing


First aid for Unintentional Injuries
 Yes, maam!
 Before we proceed, do you guys have
an experience of unintentional
injuries?

 That’s good to know so that it will be


easier for you to relate to our topic for
this afternoon.

This afternoon we will discuss Common


Unintentional Injuries and how we should
properly address those injuries.

A. Musculoskeletal Injuries
 Sprains and Strains
Sprain is stretching or tearing of ligaments.
It is most commonly located in the ankle.
Strain is the stretching or tearing of muscle
of tendon.

To address this, we will use the RICE


method.
“RICE “stands for Rest, Immobilize, Cold
Compress, and Elevate.

 Fractures
Fracture is a broken bone that requires
medical attention.
 Immobilize the injured area
 Apply a splint to the area above and  Square knot maam !
below the fracture sites
 Stop any bleeding by applying
pressure to the wound with a sterile
bandage or a clean cloth while
waiting for medical help.

B. Heat Emergencies
 Recognize heat stroke
 Lower body temperature techniques
 Treat Symptoms
 Follow Up
C. Bleeding
 Apply direct pressure on the injured
area
 Place a sterile over the injuries and
secure with tape
 Elevate the injured arm, leg or head

 Remove clothing that is not stuck to
burn
 Clean the burn gently with soap and
water
 Do not break the blisters. An open
blister can get infected
