Lesson Plan in Grade 9

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:
C- differentiate bias from prejudice
P- perform a differentiated task about being biased and prejudiced.
A- interpret the picture by giving their own opinion.

A. Motivation
The teacher will post a picture and the class will analyze the picture and answer the questions
follow.

Bias and Prejudice

Bias
An inclination or against a person, idea or
thing, especially in a way to be considered
unfair
Both negative and positive attitudes.
Prejudice
Preconceived opinion that is not based on
actual experience or reason.
Usually, negative attitudes

Examples:
-Hiring manager who is more inclined to hire
candidates they think are good-looking.
-A successful businesswoman prefers
women employees because she thinks they
are more efficient.
-Your brother only follows people on social
media who share the same viewpoints as his.
-Hiring manager sees that a candidate
graduated from a prestigious school and
assumes that they excel at their job.
-Company is continuing to hire team
members from the same demographic group,
making no effort to move forward with
diversity goals.
Examples:
-Your neighbor blames teenagers for the
increasing number of crime incidents in your
barangay despite the absence of proof.
-You avoid places where indigenous people
live because you think they are dangerous.
-It is still rare to find women working in tech
and some would say that male prejudice is to
blame.
-Calling it a “Senior moment” when you
momentarily forget something.
-Some parent will not approve of their
children marrying someone of the same
gender because they believe it is wrong

The teacher will divide the class into four groups.

Group 1- make a tablue about being biased in the school.

Group 2-make a short skit about being prejudiced in school.
Group 3- create a slogan about preventing being biased in school.
Group 4- create a poster about being biased and prejudiced in school.
V. Evaluation
Directions: White BS if the situation is Bias and PJ if it is Prejudice. Write your answer after the
number.
1. Students who are academically inclined are more successful in life than those who settle for
passing grades.
2. Name- calling someone because he or she is a PWD (Person with a Disability).
3. A mentally disabled person should not be allowed to go to school. They do not possess the
capacity to learn.
4. A big amount of food was shared with his closest neighbor only.
5. He’s considered dumb because his grades in all subjects are poor.
