Case studies: Comparative postharvest physiology of horticultural crops

Objective: Give a description of postharvest physiology characteristics, biological and


environmental causes of losses and recommended postharvest handling and storage procedures
of each product
Format: Power point presentation (30-40 minutes)- 2 people per product and both should
present
Presentation format
1. Brief description of product (Morphology and compositional characteristics that have
bearing on postharvest characteristics- e.g root crop with 90% moisture, ???starch,
??vitamins etc)
2. Maturity and quality indices (With brief explanation of how they affect postharvest
quality
3. Product specific physiological and pathological disorders (prevention and
management)
4. Postharvest handling procedures
5. Recommended storage conditions

Submission for grading: Power point slides (not pdf)

discussion, responding to questions
