Details of activity:
1. Introduction:
The engineering discipline of workshop technology focuses on the practical aspects of manufacturing and
production processes in a workshop setting. It emphasizes on the various processes, tools, and machinery required
to transform raw materials into finished goods. In industries such as manufacturing, automotive, and aerospace,
workshop technology is crucial. In Lab 1, we conducted a number of practical tasks, including filing, drilling,
measuring, and marking, as planned by the lab supervisor.

2. List of tools:
1) Electronic Drilling Machine
2) Drill Bit (3mm, 8mm, 10mm)
3) Steel File (Flat, Triangle, Square)
4) Puncher
5) Hammer

3. Safety precautions
Safety precautions are the most significant key in workshop technology for protecting worker’s well-being and
reducing the likelihood of accidents. The lecturer provided safety measures during Lab 1, and the recommendations
were followed. The safety precautions were as follows:

a) Safety Briefing - The lecturer provided a safety briefing before the lab began, which the students acknowledged
when they were briefed. The briefing covers appropriate tool use, how to use the tools, and safety precautions when
using the drilling machine. To ensure the utmost level of safety, the lecturer meticulously supervised every move.

b) Use of safety goggles - Students were required to wear safety goggles during the drilling technique to prevent
metal chips from entering or harming their eyes. To ensure maximum safety, the lecturer would ensure that the
trainees were wearing goggles before beginning the drilling technique.
