3 Installation Disciplines

3.1 Installation of the system

Installation of the system delivered by Ulmatec Pyro is normally arranged by the customer or
the ship yard.

Following disciplines is involved in the installation of the system:

• Mechanical mounting.
• Piping
• Electric Installation.

3.2 Commission

Commission of the system is normally done by a service engineer from Ulmatec.

ULMATEC PYRO AS

4 Mechanical Mounting

4.1 Environmental Specification

The classification societies has requirement regarding IP protection, humidity, vibration and
EMC for different area on the ship. For information on location of the product, see product
layout for each item.

4.2 Mechanical Mounting

Information regarding size, weight and foundation is specified in the product layout drawing.

Note that the control cabinet required at least 10 cm free space on all side to meet the
temperature requirement specified for each item.

4.3 Welding

Note that welding can cause serious injury on the system.

When welding on or near the equipment that includes electric components the welding earth
cable shall be connected directly to the work piece. Make sure that the earth connection has
good electric connection.

4.4 Installation mechanical

4.4.1 Foundation mechanical equipment.

- The requirement for the foundation for item is specified on the layout drawing.
- The alignment should be checked and if necessary be adjusted by shimming under the
appropriated position.
- To fasten the unit use bolt size according to the holes specified on the layout drawing.
- Use grade 8.8 bolt and nut.
- Use washer.

5 Piping

5.1 Piping Specification

Piping arrangement is specified in the project specific documentation.

For information regarding flange connection for water or exhaust see enclosed piping
specification.

5.2 Air Ventilation Pipes

Notice that air ventilation pipes from tanks shall be routed without any traps. The pipe should
if possible be mounted in a location where the temperature is above +5 degree.

5.3 Pipes from safety valves

The pipes from safety valves shall be routed to a safe area. The pipe should if possible be
mounted in a location where the temperature is above +5 degree.

5.4 Exhaust Pipe.

We recommend that the spark arrestor is mounted on the upper part of the exhaust pipe.
Note that the spark arrestor must be mounted on a location where maintenance can be easily
done.

The exhaust pipe shall be mounted in such way that the pipe always rises upward.

6 Electric Installation

6.1 Cable types

Information regarding cable, conductors and wiring types is specified in the project specific
documentation. For more specific cable requirement see cable specification.

6.2 Cable entry

The cable entry on the on the control cabinet is located on the bottom of the cabinet.
Cable glands are normally included in the scope of supply from Ulmatec.

The cables shall be fixed to the dedicated earth rail located inside the cabinet. The project
specific diagram specifies cable screen requirements. Cable screen is to be earthed to the
dedicated earth rail. The cable screen shall in this case be connected to the earth rail with a
360 degree connection. We propose to use cooper patent straps.
For easier connection many cables can be bundled together.

6.3 Cable routing

Note that communication cables (serial, LAN, CAN and IO) shall be routed with a distance of
at least 40 cm from power cables. If a communication cable is crossing a power cable this
shall be done with a 90 degrees angle.

Note that the cable manufacture specified maximum bending radius for each cable types.
This is particular important for LAN cables.

3 General information, System HAT

3.1 Purpose System HAT

This document is a guideline for the system HAT implementation for the Pyro Energy Management System.

The HAT is divided into following main issues:

Heat Distribution (consisting of different Ulmatec Pyro product).
Heat Consumers (consisting of different Ulmatec Pyro product).
Heat Generators (consisting of different Ulmatec Pyro product).

For each product the HAT is divided into a Pre-commission (assisted by Ulmatec service engineer) and a
Quayside test.

3.2 Test requirement

Before the HAT test following have to be performed:
• FAT test for each product delivered by Ulmatec PYRO AS.
• The System is installed according to the installation guidelines from Ulmatec Pyro AS.
• The system shall be filled up with water.
• Fuel shall be available.
• Power shall be available to all units.

3.3 HAT Commission Test

Before the quayside test is started the Ulmatec service engineer shall finish all pre-commission.

The HAT (quayside) test shall be verified by the Ulmatec service engineer and the customer for each test:
• If a test is not valid it shall be marked “NA” (Not Applicable).
• Any other comments shall be marked in the “Comment Field”.
• If a comment requires any correction it shall be noted on the “punch list”.

After completing the HAT test:

• All representatives shall sign the front page of the HAT for verification.
• The signed document shall be stored in the folder:
(M;)\PYRO Released Documentation\UPY-B11……\UPY-B11……-01OH (A) Signed HAT.pdf

3.4 Test Configuration

The unit included in the test is shown on the order arrangement drawing.
Interface to external system is listed on the order cable routing diagram.

Installed software version is listed on the order related FAT.

If the software is updated during commission this will be noted in this document.

2 Preservation and storage

2.1 Visual inspections

A visual inspection should be performed before storage. The inspection will reveal damage
and/or irregularities of the control system and the main mechanical components which should
be taken in consideration before storage.

2.2 Preservation

Make sure that the control units and junction boxes are dry. Any visible moisture or fluids
shall be removed. All units shall be clean before storage. Any leakage or other reason for
liquid inside the cabinet shall be investigated and repaired.

If the units shall be stored for more than 3 mounts we recommend add silica gel inside the
control cabinet and the junction boxes. The silica gel shall be replaced with new one every
third mounts.

Cabinet doors and hatches shall be closed and secured before storage.

As an additional protection we recommend to protect the unit with cardboard and foil wish is
fixed with tape.
