CLASSROOM Online
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a pre-requisite course designed to improve the body, which is the “living temple”, by developing coordination, balance, and
agility needed in the basic footwork necessary for sports through instruction and practice of the fundamentals of rhythm in folk dance
skills and techniques.
COURSE OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should have been able to:

1. Design and perform a folk-dance activity using the different fundamental dance steps and arm 1, 2,3, and 5
movements.
2. Perform a Philippine folk dance (Balse or Tiklos) with mastery and confidence. 1, 2,3, and 5

1. Participation (10%)—Active participation in all activities is expected, both synchronous and asynchronous.
2. Assignment/quizzes/seatwork (20%)—Quizzes will be posted in iStudy while submission of assignments and class works will be in MS
Teams (general-files-folder). Prompt completion of requirements will be credited to participation.
3. Individual performance (30%)—Perform 15 fundamental steps/movements, warm-up exercises 1 & 2, Tiklos or Balse dance. Only
performances (synchronous and asynchronous) with proper attire will be given credit (Ladies-blouse, knee high skirt and flat shoes; Men-
shirt, pants and shoes).
4. Periodic examinations (15%)— Written examinations include prelim and midterm. These exams will be taken through iStudy portal. Prefinal
will be on actual performance.
5. Final exam (dance presentation) (25%)—
OPTIONS:
1. Design and perform a folk dance activity by combining fundamental arms and feet movements (1.5 to 2 min only).
2. Select a Phil.Folk dance in youtube and follow all the movements (2min-2.5min).
3. Select a Phil.Folk dance in youtube and modify according to your creativity.
*Wearing of proper attire is part of the requirement (Ladies-blouse, knee high skirt and flat shoes; Men-shirt, pants and shoes). However, wearing of an
appropriate Phil.folk dance costume is appreciated and will be given extra credit.
*Performance of the selected dance (Balse or Tiklos) and one additional folk dance activity are individual requirements. However, performing with a partner
is a better option and will be given extra credit.

CONTINGENCY PLAN FOR MISSED CLASSES: You and the teacher will always be in constant communication in case loss of connection, power outages, or unavoidable
circumstances that cause the missing of important video conferences will happen. Your class should come into agreement to address missed classes as promptly as
possible.
BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS
1. Netiquette. Since most of our activities will be online, you are expected to practice netiquette in all situations. Be guided with the following:
a. During video conferences (MS Teams),
i. wear proper attire, strictly no sleeveless or sando.
ii. make sure to mute your microphone and unmute only when being asked to talk and when sharing of ideas regarding lessons.
iii. make sure you address your teacher and classmates properly during online forums and video conferences.
iv. ask permission before recording video conferences.
b. Avoid placing unacceptable photos as your profile picture, including in your iStudy profile.
c. Send messages in a professional, courteous manner in chatrooms (MS Teams) and in e-mails.
d. Use sentence cases rather than all capitals when communicating.
2. Proactivity. You are expected to be proactive while engaging in synchronous and asynchronous modes of learning online. Engagement and
participation in the online portal, or activities in MS Teams, will be regularly checked. The instructor will communicate with you through MS
Teams chatbox.
3. Punctuality. You will be expected to complete the quizzes/exams at iStudy and send in requirements promptly through the MS Teams (folders)
as part of participation points. Reasonable time will be given for your work. Refer to the rubric for guidance.
4. Consultations. You are expected to consult with the teacher during the synchronous meeting or scheduled consultation period every week
through MS Teams chatbox.
