GE 9 LIFE AND WORKS OF RIZAL

“Landas ng Paglaya”
I’ve learned from the documentary entitled “Landas ng Paglaya” is about the life and heroism of
Dr. Jose P. Rizal. The historian says there that “He is not just a statue in Luneta”. It is right that he is not
just a statue we seen as we visit in Rizal Monument in Manila, he is not only a hero we celebrate during
December 30, Rizal Day, and also, he is not only a hero we see printed in one peso coin. For us, he’s
more than being a hero. He portrays for being a nationalism and dignity for the truth. He not only cares
about his family but also about his beloved country. His life and works is a golden legacy for us for being
a Filipinos. By using his pen as a sword to write novels to expose the abuses of power of friars and
exploitation of the natives by the Spaniards. I remembered in the documentary the definition for “love”
for Rizal is the love for the country.

The whole life has been meaningful and he wasted no precious time for the people. All of his
sacrifices are worth of and because of him we have our freedom. In his entire life, he accomplished a lot.
He started many things for our beloved country. And I am in awe that we have a man named Jose Rizal
that lived not for his own and family but to his native land.
