SAS Institute Invests in Employees

SAS is a company that runs its business in analytics, artificial intelligence, and
data management. SAS was founded on July 1, 1976, in North Carolina, United States.
SAS company was founded by four individuals, whose name is Anthony James Barr,
James Goodnight, John Sall, and Jane Hellwig. SAS company is the leader in business
analytics, and SAS company was provided innovations for business analytics industries
around the world.

SAS company has an outstanding managerial, which SAS company is able to be

the strongest influence over work behaviors. There are four factors in how SAS
company influences and manages its work environment:

1. Job Perfomance

Job performance is defined as an aggregate of employee behaviors that have

some expected value to organizations (positive or negative). Job performance is
necessary for the company to evaluate the work results of their employees. Thus,
managers may classify their employees. Classifying an employee aims to
monitor which employees have issues in their behavioral work, and managers
are able to give the warning to be more disciplined and responsible with their
job. Managers should be appreciative of their employees by giving them
bonuses, thus able to make the employees work even better.

2. Organizational Citizenship

Organizational citizenship means all company structures such as managers, staff,

employees, and subordinates, should be fully dedicated to their company.
Occasionally, all of them should volunteer at their company to achieve company
goals and objectives. Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) is an evolving
concept concerning how and why people contribute positively to their
organizations beyond defined work roles; a concept that has rapidly expanded in
recent years. The study of OCB engages fundamental questions analyzing the
circumstances in which individuals “go the extra mile” in the workplace. This
briefing reviews the literature to shed light on the antecedents and enabling
environments for OCB in order to improve employee and employer ability to
maximize citizenship behavior for mutual benefit (“Organizational Citizenship
Behaviours: Definitions and Dimensions”, 2016).

3. Absenteeism

Absenteeism means employee absence from their work due to some causes.
Frequent causes of employee absenteeism include burnout, harassment, mental
illness, and the need to care for sick parents and children. Absenteeism behavior
may be decreasing company performance occasionally, thus, managers should
be able to identify employees who want to commit fraud from the absenteeism
policy. Absenteeism is a stressful situation for all involved. Whether an
employee is gone from work for one day or one week, their absence has a ripple
effect that impacts their workload, their team, and management (“Absenteeism
In The Workplace | Causes of Absenteeism | Personio”, n.d.).

4. Turnover

Turnover behavior means to situations in which employees have an opportunity

to remain with their employer but choose to leave. Turnover is natural for any
organization. While low employee turnover is the goal for most organizations,
what determines low vs. high turnover is how actual turnover compares to a
typical or expected rate, which can change depending on the industry, job type,
company size, region, and more—and that rate is very rarely zero. For example,
an insurance company should not base its analysis of organizational turnover on
the expected turnover rate of a fast food restaurant, and vice-versa (“What is
Employee Turnover? | BambooHR”, 2023). There are many reasons why an
employee leaves their company, such as a lack of opportunity for growth or
career development, natural career progression, feeling burnout, negative
feelings towards manager or management, internal promotion or transfer, toxic
work environment, family or life event, competitive offer, lack of work-life
balance, and involuntary departure. Therefore, managers should be able to
understand the causes of employee turnover, it is able to help the company to
make necessary changes to maintain their workforce at the desired level.

Job performance, organizational citizenship behaviors, absenteeism, and

turnover, are four factors that cause SAS Company to have the strongest influence over
behavioral work. These factors are able to be guidelines for managers to build a healthy
work environment, and maintain their employees to work in the best quality system
management.
