PARENTS-TEACHERS ASSOCIATION PROJECT
Every school shall organize a Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) for the
purpose of providing a forum for the discussion of issues and their solutions related
to the total school program and to ensure the full cooperation of parents in the
efficient implementation of such program.
The Parent Teachers Association (PTA) is a school-based organization in
ensuring the delivery of education-related services to all of our stakeholders. They
shall serve as support group and as a significant partner of the school whose
relationship shall be defined by cooperative and open dialogue to promote the
welfare of the students.
During the school year 2022-2023, the Parent Teachers Association (PTA)
headed by Narciso B. Ramos Jr. made possible their plant box project for the
improvement of Bayoyong NHS Gulayan sa Paaralan.
This plant box is an elevated box that can be filled with enough soil to support
plants. They have decided for this project because of its many advantages such as:
Manageability: Plant box offers a manageable way to garden a smaller
space intensively.
Prevention of soil compaction and plant damage: One of the greatest
advantages of plant box comes from the protection the structure provides,
especially from students working in a garden area. Since people work on the
paths and don't walk in well-designed plant box, the soil does not get
compacted and plants are less likely to be damaged.
Longer growing season: Plant box is possible for a longer growing season
and better growing conditions.
Less weeding and maintenance: Once the soil in a plant box has stabilized,
compaction is almost non-existent. Weed populations decrease over time in a
plant box that is well cared for.
Better drainage: A well-prepared plant box allows the soil to drain better than
in an in-ground garden.
Material conservation: Because the gardening space is concentrated, the
management of water, fertilizer and soil amendments can be more carefully
controlled, leading to less waste.
