BACKGROUND

It has been observed that at Chibi High School have little knowledge on variable forms of air pollution

which have affected aesthetic value of land scrap and this also triggered on increase in nnumber of rats
mice and houseflies of different types

CAUSES OF AIR POLLUTION

smells from dining waste

-when the dining waste is

deposited it produces air pollution which can affect the environment

smokes from incenerators

-when the waste in incenerators is burnt it produces smoke which affect the surroundings

dust from sweeping the school grounds

- dust from school grounds cause air pollution there by affecting the environment

smells from the blair toilets

smells adapted from blair toilets affect the environment through air pollution

smells from leaks of the gas

-smells from leaks of the gas produces dangerous gases which cause air pollution

Effects of air pollution

Respiratory diseases

smells from gas leakages cause respiratory diseases which cause great harm to human health

Global warming

Air pollution that includes greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. Greenhouse gases cause the
climate to warm by trapping heat from the Sun in the Earth's atmosphere.The recent increase in
greenhouse gas pollutin is trapping excess heat and causing the climate to warm.

Acidic rains

Acid rain is one of the consequences of air pollution.Gases produces from the burning of fuels react with
the oxygen in the air and water vapour transforming into acids that fall onto the Earth's surface as rain
Flies

smell attracts flies which cause diseases

Eutrophication

Is a condition in a water body where high concentrations of the concentrations of nutrients (such as
nitrogen) stimulate blooms of algae, which in turn can cause fish kills and loss of plant and animal
diversity.Although eutrophication is a natural process in the aging of lakes and some estuaries, human
activities can greatly accelerate eutrophication by increasing the rate at which nutrients enter aquatic
ecosystems.Air emission of nitrogen oxides from power plants,cars, trucks and other sources contribute
to the amount of nitrogen entering aquatic ecosystems.

Mitigatory measures

Renewable fuel and clean energy production

Moving away from fossil fuels and replacing them with alternative energies such as solar , wind and
geothermal help to reduce the problem of air pollution

Environmental laws

The should make use of Environmental laws so that people around Chibi High School could reduce the
rate of air pollution

Raising awareness through campaigns advocacy

As much as anti-pollution laws are established and technology ad advancements progressively aim at
minimizing air pollution,it is not just enough.Awareness creations is the number one factor to consider
because it will make people realize and understand the sources and effects of air pollution.From this
point, it makes it easier for people to take personal or collective initiatives to reduce air pollution.

Buy efficient vehicles like electric

When purchasing a vehicle, consider fuel-efficient and alternative fuel vehicles.E-vehicles are much
more efficient,and when compared to the price of energy.Charging an e-vehicle is less expensive than
filling up liquid fuel for your travel needs.Using renewable sources of energy can enhance using e-
vehicles,making them environmentaly beneficial.

Always use Recyclable Products:

Buy recyclable products if you have access to them and the ability to choose them.Reuse, Reduce and
Recycle helps in cutting down solid waste generation.When we reuse a product,such as a water
bottle,we reduce the air pollution caused by burning the waste in landfills.Other harmful toxins that
landfills emit are reduced as well.

Topic: Causes , effects and solutions to air pollution

Temperatures are becoming higher and higher every year ,it is because of air pollution .Air pollution is
caused by smokes from incenerators, dust from sweeping the school grounds there are many more
causes of air pollution

Air pollution is causing people to suffer from respiratory diseases,it is also causing unnecessary increase
in temperatures in our area . It also cause flies around the school which cause stomachache to school
children

Air pollution can be reduced by use of fines , educating people around Chibi high and disposing litter
properly and practising what the Environmental Management Agency suggest you to do
