COMMUNICABLE DISEASES-

1. BACTERIA are one-celled microscopic organisms that rank among the most
widespread of living things. Some are small that a single grain of soil may contain
over 100 million of them. Most bacteria do not cause diseases. Ir order to live, all
bacteria must have a food supply, as wel as suitable temperature, moisture, and
darkness. Som bacteria digest non-living food materials such as milk an meat.
These organisms are called saprophytes. If th food supply is a living plant or
animal, the microorganisr is called a parasite. The plant or animal that the parasites
feeds on is called a host.
 Toxin Bacteria- Prpduced a certain food poison called botulism. These bacterial
live in soil. Once they entered the body through wound, they can cause tetanus
or lockjaw.
 Resident Bacteria- Live in human mouth, Intestine and skin.
2. RICKETTSIAE- Grows in the intestinal tract of insects, which carry them to their human
host.
3. VIRUSES- Are small, simple life-like form from one-half to 100 the size of a bacteria.
These organism are the human body worst enemies
4. FUNGI- Are simple organism that cannot make their own food. Many live in dead
animals, insects and leaves.
5. PROTOZOA- are singles-celled organism that are larger than bacteria, and have more
complex cellular strature.
6. PARASITIC WORMS- they are considered as parasite. It is a diseases-causing organism
that lives in human or other animals and derives its nourishment from its host.
-Roundworms- Hatch and live in the intestines. Usually enter the body through
contaminated water.
-Pinworms: also called as seatworm and threadworms. Pinworms hatch and live
primarily in the intestine. Enters the body through anus, nose or mouth through
inhaled air or fingers that have touched a contaminated object.
-Tapeworm- Tapeworm live in the intestine. The eggs usually enter the body
through raw or uncooked beef.
