In this activity, you will be challenge to analyze different multimodal texts. You will watch
a TV Commercial. As you watch the video, answer the following questions:

1. What is the message?


As I watched the TV commercial from Lucky Me Pancit Canton Original “Family Time”
Commercial, I perceived that the message of this commercial is about the bond that we
always dream to share with our family and its message highlights the poignant truth that
we are spending more time with our families than ever and it gives us chance to share
stories and ideas from each family member's experiences.

2. What is the purpose of the message?


In accordance with what I understand to this TV Commercial, the purpose of its
message is to give importance to familial bond a communication which this commercial
wants to reflect the grim reality of our family members being distant with each other
because of the lack of communication that creates walls between them. Therefore the
purpose of this message is to give our family the opportunity to create better
communication during meal time.

3. How is the message conveyed by the text and/or video?


As I watched the said TV Commercial, the message was conveyed through
the combination of definite visual, profound language and clear and creative audio that
will surely captures the attention of anyone who will watch it. The opening of the TV
Commercial directly lay its main objectives and that is to keep its viewer’s eyes look and
listen closely having your focus directed to it only. Its intentive color, focal perspectives,
clarity and organization of words and scenarios are so vivid that it will not make its
audience or viewers comprehend its message difficultly. Moreover, its ambient sounds,
tone and emphasis of every emotions are so real that it directly hits our hearts because
of the artist’s underlying talents that brings up its every emotions of the whole scene.
Therefore through that elements the message of this video commercial was conveyed
effectively.

4. What did you feel while and after watching the commercial? Cite the scene(s)
that elicited the feelings that you’ve mentioned?
As I watched this commercial, the emotions or feelings that I perceived while
watching this are the feelings of melancholy, longings and solemnity. And the scene that
elicited these feelings is the following:

This is the scene where we can see the father who just are arrived from work
and their children which also came from their school—the whole member of the family
gathered around to their living room having the mother welcoming them with wide hug
and big smile on her face. However that smile fades as she saw all of them part their
ways and do their things separately with their children all inside their room busy with
their home works and the father who sits firmly on the sofa busy doing its remaining
task from its work. The mother sign out of mixed emotions of longings and sadness as
she watched them spent their time separately.
And I can incorporate this feeling to my mother because this is the reality I
can observe within our family specially during meal time where we no longer eat
together because of different factors that makes us busy enough that results to distant
or cold treatment every time we share a meal every night which is truly saddening just
by thinking of it.

5. Who is the target audience of the message?


Based from the TV commercial I have watched, the target of this message is
mainly for every Filipino families and to everyone who values familial bond and
communication. And also to every citizens of our society which are the intended target
audience of this message.

6. What modes are used in presenting the message?


The modes that are used in presenting the message are linguistic, visual,
gestural, language and audio. Those are the modes that are utilized in this TV
Commercial and are used in presenting its message.

7. Do you think it effectively integrate the different modes in conveying its


message? Explain your answer.
From my own perspective, I firmly believe that it effectively integrate the
different modes in conveying its message because the TV Commercial is able to convey
its message clearly, efficiently and systematically delivered or portrayed its all
underlying purpose and message to its audience. Moreover, it creates balance,
harmony and synchronization of its every scene through the help of the different modes
in order for us to easily understand its objectives and gather or gain our attention and
focus directly to the whole video. The utilization of linguistic such as the delivery of
every spoken words, coherence of individual words and its underlying ideas, the style
and theme of the commercial and the arrangements or synchronization of its elements
as well as the creative utilization of audio and ambient of the whole audio modes. These
elements and factors that relies on its modes helped effectively integrated in conveying
its whole message. Therefore we can conclude that this TV commercial truly
incorporates effectively the different modes and made its message convey in a more
comprehensible and direct manner.
