Assignment 1(lesson 1)

Teaching methods makes a teacher more effective and engaging. Direct and silent
way methods will be explained as teaching methods which are the best to use when
I qualify as a teacher also reasons will be provided on why the best teaching
methods for me is. Secondly, examples of when I was in tertiary and the teaching
method that my teacher used and that most resonate with me will be mentioned.

Direct method is based on direct involvement of the student when speaking and
listening to, the foreign language in common everyday situations. In direct method
there is lot of oral interaction and no translation and little if any analysis of grammar
rules. Direct method is the best teaching method to use because it focuses on good
pronunciation, with spontaneous use of language, no translation and little grammar
analysis.

Silent way is when the teacher uses visual aids such as pictures to communicate
with students. Silent way is the best method to use because visual aids are essential
especially to primary school leaners they remember what was learned in class
through colours and pictures association.

Direct and silent way methods is more effective when used in physical environment
than online classes because direct method is more beneficial to leaners through the
use of visual aids to teach vocabulary. 

When I was a tertiary leaner my lecturer employed teacher Vs leaners,

suggestopedia, silent way and grammar translation. Teacher Vs learner method
resonate with me because the teacher ensured that she creates a good relationship
between the learners and the teacher which made it easy for me to ask questions
and to actively participate in class.

Suggestopedia is the other method that my lecturer used, and it was useful because
this method made me to relax, and I learn better when I am relaxed. Silent way
made it easy for me to remember content in terms of visual aids. Grammar
translation made me to easily understand another language through translation.
However, I was exceptionally good in grammar on theoretical basis, but it was
difficult to speak fluently. 

I have chosen combination of methods because each teaching method played an

essential role in language development.
