ABSTRACT

Coconut shell ice cream cup are ideal for serving ice cream and also it can help to serve salads and smoothies.

The reason to choosing the coconut shell ice cream cup with spoon is because the researcher wanted to know more skills in making the cup
and spoon,and to know its importance in the society. The researcher found out it's normally help in serving children hence it's not easily
breakable.

The researcher found out some challenges during the process that the coconut shell ice cream cup cannot be washed directly into water
hence it can break when it lasts in water.It also needs alot of skills in making it.

CHAPTER ONlE

1.1 Introduction

Coconut shell ice cream cup and coconut shell spoon,it it's highly appreciated as it's manufactured from natural coconut shell. Coconut
shells cups are made of a durable material that won't break or crack if dropped. It's available in various stunning designs and patterns.

Coconut she'll spoon is also manufactured from natural coconut and a strong wooden handle.

1.2 Objectives

1. To find out the cost of making the ice cream cup and coconut shell spoon.
2. To know the procedure to follow when making coconut ice cream with the spoon.
3. To know skills when making coconut shell ice cream cup with spoon.
4. To avail affordable coconut ice cream cup to the society.

1.3 Significance of the project

The researcher discovered that since coconut shell ice cream cup with spoon are made of durable materials that won't break or crack if
dropped,and this helps to serve mostly kids to use it, by eating different type of food. It's available in various stunning designs and patterns.

Researcher also found that it has uniform quality and good resistance to water and fungal attack.

1.4 Scope

The researcher carried out the research in Mombasa county where coconuts are easily available and affordable.

AIt took me two weeks ,for the researcher to collect all the equipment and materials that will help during making the coconut shell ice
cream with cup and also for the research in different books and internet.

1.5 Challenges

1. Time
Time was limited since I was in school,had to commit myself and fix some time to my project and finish on time that was
required.
2. High cost
The required amount was so high to purchase the materials hence some of the material was so expensive.
3. Language barrier
While asking the process of making my project the kind of language used was too hard for me to understand making it a
challenge.

4. Misinterpretation

During the interview the researcher pos question on how to prepare coconut shell ice cream cup with spoon,the interviewers did not
understand some terms since most of them were illiterate.

CHAPTER TWO

2.1Literature review

The coconut cup was a western European creation in the 15th and 16th century as a type of standing cup. A standing cup is a tall cup in the
style of globlet that's frequently accompanied by cover. However this would only be for cups of some size and importance.

The standing cup has developed over time,seeming to have progressed from a simple combination of a wooden bowl with a cover and
gradually becoming the more extravagant cups often made with coconut.

The popularity of coconut cups more or less faded away,finding a brief revival nearly three centuries later.Today,this makes coconut cups a
difficult collectable to find in good condition.

The usual design of an antique coconut cup was the trumpet-shaped base and the decoration would adhere to the taste of that particular
period.Coconut cups of the 15th century can be seen at Oriel and New Colleges in Oxford .

2.2 Existing design

Coconut shell ice cream cup with spoon are unique cups made from coconut shell. They can be made in different shapes and can be
decorated different colours .They can also be made into different designs both traditional and modern.

2.3 Uniqueness

The researcher discovered that coconut shell ice cream cup with spoon has not been discovered by many people,it healthier since it's
chemical free compared to other materials hence it's safe for food.
CHAPTER THREE

3.0 Methodology

1. Questionnaire

The researcher asked many questions about the project and found out the skills that can be used and make it perfectly.

2. Observation

The researcher visited various workshop that make coconut shell ice cream cup with spoon and acquired different information,the
researcher observed that her project can be made in different shapes.

3. Books and web research

The researcher used books that gives her more information about the project. She accessed various pages of books and got various views
about the project.

The researcher searched directly from the internet.

3.1 Procedure

1. Purchasing the coconut shell from the market

2. Removing outer hairy cover of the coconut shell

3. Dividing the coconut shell into two parts but not of equal parts(one part should be three quarter and the other a quarter)
4.Removing the inner white part of the coconut shell

4. Cutting the bottom part of the coconut shell that of a quarter and fix it in the three quarter coconut to act like a base for the
support of the cup
5. Fixing the coconut shell handle by using part of coconut shell with glue
6. Smoothening of the spoon handle
 7. Using a peace of paper on the coconut spoon to have it shape and fix it to the spoon handle

3.2 Utility

The researcher found out that coconut ice cream cup is used to:

_serve ice cream

_act as a decoration

_helps in serving salads

_heps in serving smoothies

_A wooden handle attached to the cup provides firm grip

3.3 Materials and Equipments

4.1 Conclusion
The researcher would like to conclude that making coconut shell ice cream cup with spoon is very interesting and
enjoyable,one can make it during his or her free time to avoid idleness.

One can also come different shapes of coconut shell ice cream cup.

4.2 Recommendation

I recommend my project to people working in hotels and restaurants to use coconut shell ice cream cup or any
coconut shell because its made from durable material that won't break or crack if dropped.

I would advice the youth to use their free time we'll by coming up with many different styles of making the coconut
shell cup,and also be more creative enough to decorate them. They should not forget vto consider time,money and
materials before starting the project.
