1. Introduction.

Plant distribution. It is the physical, orderly placement of industrial means, such as

machinery, equipment, workers, spaces required for the movement of materials and their
storage, in addition to preserving the necessary space for indirect labor and auxiliary
services.

The disposition or distribution is usually determined at the beginning of operations, that is,
when a company or office begins to operate; Even if the initial layout is properly studied, a
restudy of the utilization of the spaces is often required.

The objectives of the plant distribution are the following:

 Reduction of the risk to the health of the personnel involved.
 Increased production and productivity.
 Optimization of spaces.
 Maximization of machinery use.
 Reduction of material in process.

Reasons to make a plant distribution:

 Adding a new product or changing design
 Change in demand for a product
 Introduction of new equipment or replacement of obsolete equipment
 Procurement of material handling equipment
 Review of methods and cost reduction.

Factors that determine the type of plant distribution in a company:

 Production volume
 Variety of products
Types of plant distribution:
 By fixed position
It is established when labor, materials and equipment are brought to the work area,
there the final structure takes the form of a finished product. The volume of
production and the variety of products are low, even of a single piece and usually of
considerable dimensions.
 By process
Machinery or equipment is grouped by functions, giving rise to well-established
departments, each of which is dedicated to a single or very few tasks, an advantage
is that, if a machine stops, you have more to perform the activity.
Its production volume is low, but the variety of products is high.
 By product
Also known as continuous manufacturing or line; The work is divided into a
sequence of stations in which the passage of the base element through each of
them, different elements are added in logical order so that at the end of the line you
have a finished product; The production volume is high and the variety of products is
low.

 By Technology Groups
Parts with similar characteristics are grouped, which can be design or process, giving rise to different
families of parts and a production line is assigned capable of producing any of the parts of the
family, this production line is called a manufacturing cell; Both the volume of production and the
variety of products are of medium quantity. (Garcia, 2009).

1. General Objective.

Develop a floor plan layout of the manufacturing workshop, determining the current dimensions of
each element of the workshop and translate it into a physical diagram (lay-out); You can use
design tools or do it by hand.

2. Specific Objectives.

 Know the manufacturing workshop, regulations, regulations, safety routes,

equipment and machinery that is available, as well as a brief description of the
functions of each one.
 Use the theoretical concepts taught in the classroom, with respect to the
distribution of all the elements that are part of the manufacturing workshop.
 Make a scale drawing of the manufacturing workshop and the fixed and semi-fixed
elements that compose it.
