ANALYSIS

Consider  the  following  question  based  on  the  puzzle  above:

1. What  are  the  words  you  find  on  the  puzzle?  List  at  least  5

• Grassland
• Ecosystem
• Evolution
• Stem
• Land

2. Give  a  one  sentence  description  of  each  word  you  found  on  the  puzzle.

Grassland  are  found  where  the  is  not  enough  regular  rainfall  to
support  the  growth  of  a  forest,  but  not  so  little  that  a  desert  forms.

Ecosystem  is  a  geographic  area  where  plants,  animals,  and  others
organisms,  as  well  as  weather  and  landscape,  work  together  to  form  a
bubble  of  life.  Ecosystem  contain  biotic  or  living,  parts,  as  well  as  abiotic
factors,  or  nonliving  parts.

Evolution  is  the  change  in  the  characteristics  of  a  species  over  several
generations  and  relies  on  the  process  of  the  natural  selection.

Stem  is  one  of  two  main  structural  axes  of  a  vascular  plant,  the  other
being  the  root.    It  supports  leaves,  flowers  and  fruits,  transports  water
and  dissolved  substances  between  the  roots  and  the  shoots  in  the  xylem
and  phloem,  stores  nutrients,  and  produces  new  living  issues.

Land  is  the  terrestrial  bio-‐productive  system  that  comprises  soil,
vegetation,  other  biota,  and  the  ecological  and  hydrological  processes  that
operate  within  the  system.

3. What  do  you  think  is  the  importance  of  maintaining  a  healthy  ecosystem?

Healthy  ecosystems  clean  our  water,  purify  our  air,  maintain  our  soil,
regulate  the  climate,  recycle  nutrients  and  provide  us  with  food.  They
provide  raw  materials  and  resources  for  medicines  and  other  purposes.
They  are  at  the  foundation  of  all  civilization  and  sustain  our  economies.

APPLICATION
Using a bond paper, draw or print a photo you search online
that shows an ecosystem development. Describe or write a one
paragraph description about the photo you choose.

Ecosystem development is the outcome of all the processes in

the system. For example, it includes not only the abundance
and kinds of species that colonize a particular ecosystem, but
also the modifications of the microclimate, the build-up of
organic matter in the soil, the partitioning of energy captured,
among other parameters.
