Journal 1: Technology and Student Centered Learning: Using Digital Tools to

Instruct Student Centered Learning While Meeting the Needs of All Students.

I. THEME A: THE IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY AND STUDENT CENTERED

LEARNING.

A. OVERVIEW : Every year, technology advances, and the ways in which it uses

in our classrooms change. The Corona-virus a pandemic has shown us that
technology has become an essential component of teaching. In addition to
altering how education was provided during the epidemic, COVID-19 has also
altered how education is provided following the global outbreak. Through a wide
range of digital applications, technology may be utilized in many different ways.
So let's look at the positive aspects of student-centered learning.

B. SUB - THEME: BEST WAYS TO INCORPOTATE TECHNOLOGY IN

DIFFERENT INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES
i. Appropriate level of control and agency depending on their age and experience,
allowing them to proceed at their own pace and sustain their interest.
ii. students are able to make connections with their experiences and existing
knowledge.
iii. Applications that fit learning pillar, allow students to practice what they have
learned and build from their prior knowledge and experiences.
iv. This type of learning will also encourage students to be more motivated to learn
and increase their engagement (Hirsh-Pasek et al., 2020).

C. SUB - THEME: APPLICATIONS AND DIGITAL TOOLS THAT SUPPORT

A LEARNING GOAL.

i. KAHOOT (Engaging, meaningful, prior knowledge, social interaction, game

based learning) (Baszuk & Heath, 2020).
ii. NEWSELA ( Meaningful, active learning) (Newsela Inc. 2022)
iii. NEARPOD (Engagement, meaningful, minds on ) (Perez, 2017).
iv. EDUPUZZLES (Engagement, meaningful, minds on) (Ware, 2021).

Conclusion:
What are the contributions of this literature to the field?

The aim of this initiative, a professional development series, was created to provide
instructors with the information and resources they need to be able to choose digital
technologies that enhance student-centered learning. The series offers educators the
chance to discover various digital tools, discuss them, and consider how they may
utilize them in their classrooms to promote student learning.

What are the overall strengths?

This professional development aims to help participants comprehend a student-

centered classroom. Second, be able to distinguish between the advantages and
disadvantages of using digital tools and technology in the classroom. This should
focus particularly on what it means to build a student-centered classroom and why it
helps students. Additionally to Determine several ways for using digital technologies
to enhance a student-centered classroom in their field of expertise.

What are the overall weaknesses?

Kids ages 8 to 18 now spend, on average, a whopping 7.5 hours in front of a screen
for entertainment each day, 4.5 of which are spent watching TV. That adds up to 114
full days watching a screen for fun in a year.

What might be missing?

The affect of using gadgets for long hours among kids ages 8 to 18 years old.

What are some next steps for research? The next steps should explicitly address
how to “correct” for strengths, weaknesses, and gaps.

Screen time and some media various types should be restricted for kids aged 6 and
older. This might be a significant flaw of the study, and in the future, researchers may
be able to suggest ways to restrict screen usage and time spent on them for younger
generations.

TECHNOLOGIST TO ENHANCE THE LEARNING OF HEALTH SCIENCE
STUDENT.

2. THEME: A COLLABORATION BETWEEN LIBRARIANS AND LERANING

TECHNOLOGIST TO ENHANCE THE LEARNING

A. OVERVIEW Collaboration between Librarians and Learning Technologists at

Bournemouth University (BU) has been stimulated and cemented by Pathfinder
funding from the Higher Education Academy. The project aimed to enhance the
student learning experience in an increasingly electronic environment. This was
achieved by developing and disseminating innovative pedagogical frameworks,
bringing together learning activities and academically led quality e-resources
within the unit of study. An e-reading strategy which encompasses models for
resource discovery and e-literacy was developed, drawing on the experiences and
findings of the case studies.

B. SUB - THEME THE BENEFIT OF LIBRARIAN AND LEANING

TECHNOLOGISTS TO ENHANCE THE LEARNING.

i. As Godwin (2007) describes, many students prefer to collaborate in teams and

direct their research without instruction or organization. Social bookmaking
enables this to take place. Its ease the job as well.
ii. The contribution that Web 2.0 tools, including social bookmarking, can make to
education was described by Secker and Price (2008) in the report of the LASSIE
project that explored super social software enhance the distance learners’
experience.
iii. Following the use of CPS(CLASSROOM PERFORMANCE SYSTEM) students
claimed that they learn more during the lecture, and seemed visibly happier and
engaged.
iv. The Academic felt this was an important requirement for encouraging
participation by ensuring students felt confident in using the technology.
v. The input of the Subject Librarian has enabled academics and students to reach
new levels of resource discovery, and students to acquire essential critical skills.

C. SUB - THEME The e Resources project developed as a result of the success.

1) Innovative pedagogical frameworks which bring together learning activities and

academically led quality e-resources within the unit of study.

2) An e-reading strategy which encompasses models for resource discovery and e-

literacy. Reference to this aspect of the project is referred to briefly by each case study
in this paper. It is described in detail by Beard and Dale (2008).

3) Guidelines on the appropriate support required by academics from librarians, staff

developers and learning technologists (Bournemouth University 2008)

Conclusion:

What are the contributions of this literature to the field?

In this study technology can be used to motivate students, especially in large groups
and how it can be used to engage students with a subject perceived as “dry” or
“difficult” also using new technologies embedded within the curriculum. include
accessing academic electronic reading materials and using a social bookmarking tool
integrated within BU’s virtual learning environment with students studying away
from the main campus.

What are the overall strengths?

Having this type of technology in our hands right now makes it very simple to use it
anytime and wherever. Additionally, through the use of this particular kind of
platform, learning skills will be greatly facilitated.

What are the overall weaknesses?

When discussing the study's weaknesses, one possibility is that there are unreliable
elements on the internet that can mislead people at any time by clicking on a link or
making use of e-learning. By clicking on any unwanted links while browsing the site,
you might also can ended up scamming. This could be the study's most unsuccessful
flaw.

What might be missing?

The study was only conducted among health science student, they might collaborate
with other faculties to take part because many hand can make the work easy as says
can gather even more information also perception from others as well.

What are some next steps for research? The next steps should explicitly address
how to “correct” for strengths, weaknesses, and gaps.

For now the research quit good as well compared to the rest article out there. So what
can makes better hereafter can bring to the social media and spread this kind of good
tool to use in the studies out there. It is because there are a lot of student still not
aware of this kind of tool and resources and learning in the community.
