Dear Dr. Gazo:

Greetings from Central Mindanao University- Center for Biodiversity Research and Extension in
Mindanao (CEBREM)!

The Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) represented by Dr. Peter W. Fritsch a non-
profit scientific and educational institution in the United States of America is engaged in the basic
scientific research and conservation of plant and lichen biodiversity globally. The research has
initiated a cooperative and collaborative five (5) year project with Central Mindanao University
(CMU) headed by the undersigned entitled “Plant Discovery in Southern Philippines” which
aims to survey and document the plant and lichen diversity in selected field sites in Mindanao and
Visayas.

To further strengthen the capabilities of Mindanao researchers through institutional collaborations,

we are inviting Ms. Jan Vivienel Beleno, SHS Teacher of Kitaotao National High School
to join the botanical exploration in Eureka, Gingoog City on July 16-22, 2023. He will also be
joined by James Shevock, a bryophyte expert, from the California Academy of Sciences.

All expenses incurred while joining the botanical exploration will be charged to our US-National
Science Foundation Research Fund. For further clarification, please contact Dr. Fulgent P.
Coritico, through his cp # 09278434835 and email address cfulgent@cmu.edu.ph.

I look forward to your positive action regarding this invitation to strengthen our institutional
collaborations. With best regards.

Respectfully yours,
