 BIOGRAPHY
• Andrea Iannone was born on August 9, 1989 in Vasto, in the province of Pescara. His
father, Regalino Iannone, left his job as a trader to be able to devote himself completely
to Andrea and his passion for motorcycles. His mother, Katia Napolitano, also
encourages her son to pursue his dream from an early age. In elementary school, in fact,
he already owns a mini bike that he enjoys assembling and disassembling after school.

• He graduated as a mechanical expert in a private institute, while starting to compete

seriously.
CAREER
• At the age of 15, in 2004, he took part in the Italian Speed Championship, the Spanish Speed Championship and
other European competitions riding an Aprilia made available to him by the Abruzzo Junior team.

• At the age of 16 he made his debut in the Spanish Grand Prix, competing in the full season of the world
championship in the 125 class
• In 2008 he won his first world championship race in his career, where he fought for a long time with the 2007
world champion Gábor Talmácsi on an asphalt made slippery by the rain. In Malaysia he gets the first pole
position of his career and at the end of the season he reaches 10th place in the general standings
• In 2009 he won in Qatar and in the following competition in Japan.

• In 2010 he moved to Moto2 with the Speed Up: he obtained 3 victories, 2 second places, 3 third places and 5
pole positions, finishing 3rd in the standings
 CAREER
• In 2015 he joined the official Ducati team with teammate Andrea Dovizioso. In Qatar he gets a third place, as
well as his first podium in MotoGP

• In 2016 he signed a two-year contract with Suzuki for the 2017-2018 seasons and obtained a 4th place in Japan
as his best result, finishing the season with many difficulties in 13th place

• In 2019 he joins the Aprilia Racing Team Gresini team, riding the Aprilia RS-GP: after the Malaysian Grand Prix,
the anti-doping tests prove positive for a prohibited substance and the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne
disqualifies him for 4 years

• In 2021 he made his TV debut by participating in Dancing with the stars paired with the professional dancer
