Sample Ques ons Answer Guide VHS Learning Page 2 of 2

Which of the following school policies is most likely to have a posi ve impact on the digital divide?

(A) A school allows students to bring a graphing calculator from home to complete in-class mathema cs
assignments.

(B) A school allows students to bring a tablet computer to class every day to par cipate in graded quizzes.

(C) A school provides a laptop or tablet computer to all students enrolled at the school.

(D) A school recommends that all students purchase a computer with as much processing speed as possible so
that projects run faster.

The topic that this ques on covers is 1.C which is Design and Evaluate Computa onal Solu ons for a purpose.
The actual answer to this problem was C instead of what I put as B. This is the correct answer because the
digital divide is not everyone having equal access to technology. So by giving each child enrolled in school the
ability to use technology is lessens the divide. All the other problems makes the divide bigger because they
force some students to not have the same access to technology. Not every child is able to a ord the best and
newest things for class like a graphing calculator or a fast computer. But by giving each kid the same resources it
lessens this divide. I got this ques on wrong because I just gured if kids are able to bring there own devices
they’d all be roughly the same. I forgot to realize that some kids have more resources than others. In order to
get this problem correct I need to take in all the di erent factors of the choices.

QUESTION 2 ANALYSIS

The following code segment is intended to set max equal to the maximum value among the integer variables x,
y, and z. The code segment does not work as intended in all cases.

Which of the following ini al values for x, y, and z can be used to show that the code segment does not work as
intended?

(A)x=1, y=2, z=3

(B)x=1, y=3, z=2 (

C)x=2, y=3, z=1 (

D)x=3, y=2, z=1

This ques on covers 4.C which is Evaluate and Test programs and algorithms. The correct answer to this
problem is D instead of what I put as C. This is the only correct answer because it is the only one that has all
three variables that work together to cause the problem to not work as intended. The problem I selected allows
the program to run that way its intended. In order to check that this is the right answer you need to work
through the e ect every single variable has on the problem. Once you realize that those variables don’t give
the right answer then you’ve gured out the solu on. I got this ques on wrong but it was not because I dint
understand the problem. It was because I made an issue regarding one of the variables which caused my
answer to be o . I just have to be more careful to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

QUESTION 3 ANALYSIS

The upgraded system uses a directory containing addi onal informa on not supplied by the customer. The
directory is used to help direct calls e ec vely. Which of the following is LEAST likely to be included in the
directory?

(A) A list of common issues and whether each issue requires a human representa ve

(B) A list of common keywords or phrases and a corresponding issue for each keyword or phrase

(C) A list of computers the company owns and the computers’ corresponding IP addresses

(D) A list of human representa ves and the corresponding department for each representa ve

The topic that is covered in this problem is develop programs that incorporate abstrac on which is sec on 3. A.
The correct answer for this problem is C while instead I said B. C is the only correct answer because it is the most
logical answer. All the rest of the solu ons are things that would make sense to have in the directory. But answer C
doesn’t make sense because no one would be looking for all of that inside the directory. In order to gure out the
right solu on to this problem you need to think what would make sense to have in the problem. If it makes sense
then it doesn’t make sense to be the right answer But the one that doesn’t make sense is going to be you answer.
I got this problem wrong because I misread the ques on. I thought it was asking was most likely to be include not
least.
