Shelf Life Material Process (SLED) in SAP MM

Shelf life is the time that products can be stored, during which the defined

quality of a specified proportion of the goods remains acceptable under

expected conditions of distribution, storage and display.

How do you find shelf life in SAP?

If the total shelf life is specified in the material master record, the system
calculates the SLED as follows: SLED = total shelf life + production date from
GR document. If a total shelf life is not specified, you must manually enter the
SLED in the goods receipt document.

Step by Step Process of Shelf Life Expiration Date in SAP MM

For this we need some configuration in system so let’s do it.

Step: - 1

Configuration for SLED

1] Set Expiration Date Check
Path to Maintain Period Indicator: -
SPRO-> IMG-> Materials Management-> Inventory Management and Physical
Inventory-> Goods Receipt-> Set Expiration Date Check

By double click on it below screen opens.

We can use T-Code: - OMJ5 also.

Click on Plant.

Activate this setting for your plant & Save Data.

Now Click on Movement Type.

Now we are doing setting for 101 & 102 movement & Select the SLED as
1: -Enter & Check
Save the data.

2] Maintain Period Indicator i.e. Day/Week/Month/Year

Path to Maintain Period Indicator: -
SPRO-> IMG-> Logistics – General-> Batch Management-> Shelf Life Expiration
Date (SLED)-> Maintain Period Indicator
By double click on it below screen opens.

We can use T-Code:-O02K also.

Just check & Activate it as above

1- Week
2- Month
3- Year

Step: - 2
Create a Standard Material by using T-Code: - MM01
Enter T-Code in command bar
Select Industry & Material type as per requirement. Press enter.
Select basic View for material creation. Enter Plant & S.Location

While creating material under Plant data/Store. 1 enter the data in Shelf
life data as per requirement.
After entering this system will give precautionary message as below.

Enter all the required details. Save the Data.

Create Standard PO by using T-Code: - ME21N

Enter all required data & Save PO

Std.Pur.Doc. Test-1 created under the number 4500027803

Step: - 4

Do the Goods Receipt by using T-Code: - MIGO

At the time of Goods Receipt system will ask to enter Shelf Life Expiry
Date (SLED) of material.
Without entering it will not allow to save the document.

After entering Date Manufacturing & SLED system will allow to save the
document.
Material document 80024 posted
The term shelf life expiration date (SLED) is predominantly used
in the pharmaceutical industry and food industry.
