A. Course Description

This is a three-unit course which is the study of technical writing in


English. It aims to help students write good technical reports. This course
presents different types of technical report models which help them in their
present and future presentations of technical reports and papers. It includes
pointers in the preparation and writing of good technical reports as well as
exercises to improve their technical writing skills.

B. Learning Outcomes

1. Cite the importance and uses of report writing


2. Follow the steps in report writing
3. Familiarize the format and types of narrative reports
4. Write examples of narrative reports with standard format
5. Evaluate the content and substance of the report as guided by the principles
of accuracy, completeness, clarity, conciseness and objectivity
6. Evaluate the form of the report in terms of grammar, sentence errors,
punctuations and mechanics
7. Correct errors commonly found in police reports
