Title –Time Division multiplexing (TDM) and
Frequency Division multiplexing (FDM) .

Introduction -
Definition
1.The transmission of information
from one or more source to one or
more destination over the same
medium.
2.The process which two or more
signals are combined for
transmission over a signal
communications path.
3.A process where multiple analog
message signals or digital data streams
are combined into one signal with the
aim is to share an expensive resource.
Objective - The end objective is effective utilization
of expensive bandwidth hence sharing bandwidth
among multiple users using multiplexing techniques.

Categories ofMultiplexing
What is multiplexing explain TDM --
Time-division multiplexing (TDM) is a method of

Multiplexing

putting multiple data streams in a single signal by

separating the signal into many segments, each
having a very short duration. Each individual data
stream is reassembled at the receiving end based on
the timing.

• Where used TDM

TDM is used for long-distance communication links
and bears heavy data traffic loads from end users.
Sync TDM is used for high-speed transmission.

What is multiplexing explain FDM---

In frequency-division multiplexing (FDM), multiple
signals are combined for transmission on a single
communications line or channel, with each signal
assigned to a different frequency (sub channel)
within the main channel.

• How does FDM work

Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM) is a networking
technique in which multiple data signals are combined
for simultaneous transmission via a shared
communication medium. FDM.
• Method - TDM and FDM are both multiplexing techniques.
FDM is meant for analog signals, while TDM works well with
both analog as well as digital signals. However, TDM is mostly
used in digital communications only. In TDM, syncronization
pulse is important; whereas in FDM, Guard Band is required.

Advantages of (TDM)
1.TDM systems are more flexible than frequency
division multiplexing.
2.TDM circuitry is not complex.
3.Problem of cross talk is not
severe
Disadvantages of
(TDM)
1. Synchronization is required in time division
multiplexing.
2. Complex to implement.
3. Due to slow narrowband fading, all the
TDM channel may get wiped out.

Advantages of (FDM)
1. Budget-
2. FriendlyFilament
3. ReusableEasy Ergonomics

Disadvantages of (FDM)
1. Rough Surface Finishing.
2.Warping is common.
3.Larger Adhesion Problem.
