Statement of inquiry: The concept of a home is made of cultural conventions.

Inquiry questions: How can I talk about my home? Using words to talk about my home is
important. What is special about my home? Is my home different from others?

Task Description
Students must prepare a presentation of their house/apartment (2-3 minutes) using slides with
photos only. They should also be ready to answer some questions about the content of the unit.

In order to reach the aims of language acquisition, students should be able to:

● i: Use a wide range of vocabulary to describe where your house is located, how it is
(adjectives), what rooms and furniture does it have and where the furniture is located.

● ii: Use a wide range of grammatical structures generally accurately (en/ett, indefinite
and definite nouns singular and plural, verbs “ligger”, “står”, “finns”, “är”, agreement
between adjectives and nouns, room prepositions and word order).

● iii: Use clear pronunciation and intonation in a comprehensible manner

● iv: Communicate all the required information clearly and effectively

Presentations have to be academic and professional in nature. Any inappropriate comments will
result in the work not being fully assessed and may be considered not to be described by the
assessment criteria and receiving a 0.
The presentation should be clear and have the following content and
structure:
1. Say where you live (e.g. house, apartment, farm, etc.) and where it is situated (e.g. by
the sea, in the center of the city, in the suburbs, etc.); provide a picture of your house
from outside.
2. Say what rooms are there in your house. If you live in a house/ apartment that has
several floors, describe what rooms are on what floor. Say if there is a garden, balcony
or terrace.
3. Describe at least 4 different parts of your house/ apartment. For each part of your
house, you should mention the furniture (at least 5 pieces) and describe where the
furniture is situated (by using at least 5 different prepositions).
4. When describing the rooms you should also use the verbs “är” and “finns” and at least
8 different adjectives (e.g. big/ small/ beautiful/ modern/ old/ white/ blue etc).
5. use connectors like (först, sedan, slutligen...)
6. interact with the audience, using verbal and non-verbal language
7. Speak freely!!!

The presentation should be about 2-3 minutes long. Be ready to answer some questions about
the presentation and the content of the unit in general.

In case of no show or absense the assessment policy will be applied.
