Student Co-operation
Team work has proved to be working for most of the students. Also reading your materials prior to normal
lecture period is very important and I encourage students to adopt that.
Assignments
Deadlines for submitting your assignment must be strictly observed at all time. Students who fail to submit their
assignments/ lab work will be subjected to penalty (reduction of some points)

Laboratory Practicals and Design Study

Expected laboratory exercises are
 Linear and angular displacement
 Temperature and data logging
 Data acquisition with load cells or on process system
 Air flow by pitot-static tube and inclined manometer
 Fluid flow by orifice plate, differential pressure transmitter and digital indicator
 Engine speed and vibration or noise
 LabView
These will be done in small groups, at times to be arranged by subject lecturer. Although this is a group work
individual student is expected to prepare and submit his/her work independently on stipulated time.

Tests
CA component will be made of 2 tests plus 2 written reports. Test component will carry a total of 24% while
16% will be from written reports.

End of Semester Examination

2-hour paper (current regulations for 2-credit course. Counts for 60% of the course marks!

Course Lecturer’s Calendar

A student centered based type of learning approach is emphasized. I will upload course material online so that
class can download some material using webCT / Blackboard and the eLearning facility.
