Area of Circles

Area of Circle = πr2

Where π is approximately equal to ___________ or ___________ .

And r stands for the radius.

Note

The diameter can also be as a formula if you want.

d
Note that since the radius is half the diameter, i.e. r = 2

2 πd2
We could use the formula A = π×( d2 ) = 4
, if we are given the diameter.

Examples

1. Find the area of the following circles:

Note: correct to 2 decimal places and in exact form – i.e. keeping Pi in the answer.

1. ___________

2. ___________

Composites
Composites just refer to combinations of shapes. In this case combining circles with already known
shapes.

Examples Note: correct to 2 decimal places and in exact form – i.e. keeping Pi in the answer.
