3.9 – Sketching Primitive Functions

 x-intercepts on the graph correspond to stationary points on the
primitive

e.g.

Max Min

 Stationary points on the graph correspond to inflection points on the

primitive

This is because the stationary points correspond to where the gradients

is steepest i.e. inflection point.

 After sketching these important features above we then look for

whether the function is increasing or decreasing to draw the rest of the
primitive.
