SUBJECT PSC (DLOC 3)
SCHEME
Pract/Tut -
COURSE OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE:-

1) To make the learner to understand difference between PSC and RCC section in terms of material and method
used in construction.
2) To explain the stresses in PSC beams.

3) To understand losses in prestress .

4) To compute the instantaneous and long term deflection in prestressed concrete beams.

5)To implement the guidelines of Indian Standard code for analysis and design.

6) To design PSC beam sections using limit state of servicability.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES:-

1) Distinguish between Prestressed Concrete and RCC.

2) Calculate the stresses in PSC beams using stress method, Internal resisting couple method and load balancing
concept.
3) Estimate the losses in prestress concrete.

4) Compute the instantaneous and long term deflection in prestressed concrete beams.

5) Calculate the principal tension and flexural strength of prestressed concrete beams in limit stste of servicability.

6) Design of prestressed concrete beams in limit state of servicability, maximum compression and cracking.
