Awareness and Knowledge of GMU students about the relationship between

fluoride and dental caries.

Results:

1. Demographic description of the sample

We distributed a questionnaire about the Awareness and Knowledge of GMU students about the

relationship between fluoride and dental caries. and 100 samples were collected.

2. Socio-demographic description of the sample

The pie chart shows that female participants have the highest percentage of 64.4% and that

male participants have a percentage of 35.6%. (Figure 6)

The ages of the study participants mainly ranged between 18-24 years (92.1%) and 5.9% ranged

between 25-34 years old. (Figure 7)


The pie chart shows the percentages of participants from the Gulf Medical University, students

of Dentistry, the highest percentage for the third year was 30.7 percent, followed by the second-

year students, 24.8 percent, and first-year students percentage was 17.8%. The percentage of

fourth-year students was 13.9 and the fifth year was 6.9%. (Figure 8)

3. General Awareness and Knowledge of GMU students about the relationship

between fluoride and dental caries.

The pie chart shows that 74.3% of participants responded with yes which is the majority of

students and 23.8% responded with no only 2.0% responded with “I don’t know”. (Figure 9)
The pie chart shows that 65.3% of participants responded with yes which is the majority of

students and 34.7% responded with no. (figure 10)

The pie chart shows that 91.1% of participants responded with no which is the majority of

students and 4.0% responded with yes and 2.0% respond with they don’t know. (figure 11)
The pie chart shows that 94.1% of participants agreed which is the majority of students and 5.9%

responded with disagree. (figure 12).

The pie chart shows that 96.0% of participants responded with true which is the majority of

students and 4.0% responded with false. (figure 13).


The pie chart shows that 88.1% of participants responded with yes which is the majority of

students and 11.9% responded with no (figure 14).

The pie chart shows that 88.1% of participants agreed which is the majority of students and 5.9%

responded with disagreed. (figure 15).


The pie chart shows that 88.1% of participants responded with false which is the majority of

students and 11.9% responded with true (figure 16).

The pie chart shows that 83.1% of participants responded with ture which is the majority of

students and 16.9% responded with false. (figure 17).


The pie chart shows that 29.7% of participants responded with option A, 18.8% with option

B,29.7 with C, and 21.8% with D (figure 18).

The pie chart shows that 75.2% of participants responded with yes which is the majority of

students and 24.8% responded with no. (figure 19)


The pie chart shows that 85.1% of participants agreed which is the majority of students and

14.9% responded with disagreed. (figure 20).

students and 16.8% responded with no. (figure 21)
