Results

Charts and tables are used in this section to explain the questionnaire's quantitative and

qualitative findings for the reader.

4.1 Description of Participants

These questions determined whether the responder would continue to the next sections of the

questionnaire. The questions were “What is your gender?”, “How old are you?”, “Are you a

student at university”, “If your answer yes, what is your university?” and “What do you know

about drugs?”, “Do you think drug abuse affects academic performance?”, “Have you ever been

a friend with someone who used drugs”, “If your answer yes, what is your plan to get your friend

to stop being addicted?”, “If we organize awareness campaigns about addiction in Egyptian

universities, would you prefer to be part of us?”.

As mentioned before in the previous questionnaire that we are focusing on the Egyptian students

that are between the age 18 to 24 that have some knowledge about drugs (see table 1).

The first question was a demographic question which talked about the participant’s gender which

the results shows that 74% was males and 26% was females (See figure 1)

The second question asked about the participant’s age which the results shows that 96% aged

from 18-24, 2% aged from 25-34 and 2% aged under 18 (See figure 2).

95% answered yes and 5% answered no 18 (See figure 3).

respond yes and 9 respond with no.
Discussion

The primary purpose of our study was to explore the effect of addiction on university
students and to know more about people minds and how they think it can affect people. We have
got similar findings from the previous research, where there was a lot of people agree that drugs
are harmful so they gave us suggestions to make drug addicts stop it. In this section, we will be
presenting the information we collected through our survey, begin to analyze it, and explain each
point in detail, and then show the results.

5.3 Audiences Viewing Patterns

Our research results prove that there are effects of drug addiction on university students,
the results showed that males and females are agree with us that there are negative effects on
drug addicts which we should stop them from doing this. There is only 5% of participants
doesn’t agree that drug abuse affects academic performance.

Results also demonstrated that there are factors causing addiction as 24 of the participants
voted for psychological problems, 9 of the participants voted for study problems, and 23 of the
participants voted for that friends are the cause for addiction.

5.4 Perceived Positive Impacts

If we organize awareness campaigns about addiction in Egyptian universities, would you


prefer to be part of us? The results of this questionnaire showed that a lot of the participants
would join us for our awareness campaigns.

5.5 Impacts of drugs abuse on Behavior


The results showed that the factors that causing addiction which will affect the behavior is
psychological problems, and study problems.
