PROCEDURE FOR STATIC EQUIPMENTS ERECTION.

1.0 PURPOSE:

The purpose of this procedure is to execute the static equipment erection works with required
safety and to ensure that proper quality control is exercised at site.

2.0 SCOPE:

This procedure covers the requirements for erection of following major Static Equipments.

A. Tanks.
B. Vessels
C. Evaporators
D. Hopper
E. Blower
F. Mixer
G. Etc.

4.0 RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES

The responsibilities and authorities for the execution of Static Equipment Erection works as
per following matrix:

Lead Discipline Engineer Shall report to Resident Construction Manager. Responsible

for overall implementation and coordination of all the
activities.

Site Engineer Shall report to Lead Discipline Engineer. Responsible to

execute the job as per contract specification and approved
“Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s)”.

Safety Officer Shall report to “RE”. Responsible to ensure safe working of

the personnel involved in this activity.

5.0 PERSONNEL TO BE DEPLOYED

Deployment of personnel/manpower shall be as per the approved organization chart

and as per the contractual requirements as a minimum.

6.0 PROCEDURE

1.0 Static Equipment’s on receipt from Owner’s store shall be physically examined for external
damage if any before shifting to Erection site. In case of any damages observed the
same shall be reported to Owner’s MO for corrective action. Equipments shall be
transported to erection site through suitable transport ensuring that no damage is caused
during transportation and handling.
2.0 Before erection, the respective foundation shall be checked for correctness of Elevation,
C.L , embedded parts as per AFC drawings .
3.0 Foundation top shall be thoroughly hacked , cleaned and packing plate of required
thickness shall be grouted and cured before erection of the equipment.
4.0 Centre line marking on equipment base and foundation shall be done for alignment.

5.0 Rigging arrangement with erection scheme shall be prepared first and got approved by
Owner before commencement of erection .
6.0 Required Hard stand shall be kept ready prior to erection with Crane.
7.0 Final alignment shall be carried out using shims of required thickness with the help of
plumb, master level and theodelite if required and offered for inspection by Owner.
Acceptance of the alignment shall be recorded through equipment alignment report.

8.0 After final alignment required nuts including the check nuts will be tightened using washer
and spanners of required size and capacity.

9.0 After final alignment is accepted sleeves/pockets shall be thoroughly cleaned by water
jetting, foundation top cleaned and grouting work shall be completed as per grout
manufacturer’s recommendations.

10.0Any Obstacles encountered during the Excavation shall be immediately reported to

Engineer-In-Charge for its further proceedings.
11.0While erection work will be in process proper safety barricading will be provided and all the
safety precautions shall be ensured as per Refinery regulations.

9.0 HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT.

Following measures but not limited to here under shall be taken for the execution of Survey
Works. Risk Assessment of all activities associated with this procedure shall be done before
starting any activity:
a) Entire working area shall be within the plant boundary limit. Only authorized equipment/
personnel will be allowed within the working area.
b) All utilities shall be identified and protected.
.
d) All instruments / equipment’s shall be maintained in good working condition as per
maintenance schedule.
e) All workmen, supervisors and engineers shall use proper personnel Protection gears.

f) All employees shall follow the prevalent Health & Safety rules of IOCL.
