According to Wikipedia "Ang Huling El Bimbo" ('The Last El Bimbo') is a
song composed by Ely Buendia of the Philippine pop/rock band Eraserheads, for their 1995 studio album Cutterpillow. It received extensive airplay after its release and ranked #2 on RX 93.1's "Top 20 OPM Requests of 1996". It is the only Tagalog song included in the band's international compilation album, Aloha Milkyway (1998). The song's music video catapulted the band's success outside the Philippines by bagging the 'International Viewer's Choice Awards for Asia' at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards. When I first saw the music video of Ang huling el bimbo I can only describe it as old, iconic, awesome and amazing. I find it amazing that even as a teenager that was not born by the time it was released and was at its peak I find the music and the lyrics still wonderful and were willing to listen to it over and over again. There are many reasons why I like the music video and the music itself. First the music has a wonderful beat that shouts 90’s vibes that even if I was not around I still adored the 90's music era and lets not forget the lyrics that were my absolute favorite of them all. It tells a meaningful tragic love story behind that amazing beat that you must not overlook. I also notice that most of the well known OPM MTV in the 90's have the element in their music that always tells a story in the music whether it's about love or life story and lastly the music video that was also wonderfully crafted that aids to help the people that watch imagine the story. There were many easter eggs in the music video that almost went unnoticed if you didn't watch it carefully and lastly when i listen to huling el bimbo i take a trip down memory lane since when i was kid this is one of my favorite song since my mother always play them in her DVD and as a kid i didn't have a much understanding of MTV until know but the song still manage to capture the attention and heart of the younger version of myself. I would recommend this song even to the new generation beside us and they should see what a masterpiece “Ang Huling El Bimbo” is.
