Ground Rules Governing the 57th University Intramural Games

1. The 57th University Intramural Games shall be held on October 11-14, 2023 (Wednesday to
Saturday).
2. The Opening Program will be on October 11 in the morning at the CLSU Athletic Field. The program
will be preceded by a parade, from the Main gate to the Athletic Field. In case of inclement weather,
the opening program will be held at the Multi Purpose Gym. The selected games will start after the
opening program and other events will start the following day.
3. Only bonafide CLSU students including ETEEAP, college, graduate, vocational or high schools are
allowed to play in the Intramural Games. Cross-enrolled/OJT students from different school will not
be allowed to play. An athlete can only play for his/her respective mother unit.
4. Varsity Participation. A student is considered as a varsity if he/she is a RECRUIT, FULL VARSITY
and TRAINING POOL. He/She enjoys full/half scholarship based on last SUC III Olympics results.

4.2. In Individual/Dual sports, there will be no limit of participation of varsity athletes.

4.3. In Sepak Takraw, only one (1) Varsity Athlete may be fielded per “REGU”.

4.4 In Basketball Men, there will be no limit of participation of varsity athletes.

5. Players must wear their respective uniforms, which shall bear the official colors of their athletic
unit. Any team or player (except in swimming, chess, table tennis, karatedo, and taekwondo) that
violates this rule will be forced to lose the game by default. Uniforms must follow the international
numbering for team events. Official unit colors, listed below, must be dominant in the uniforms.

5.1 Unit I (CED) -- Yellow (Golden Fighting Lynx)


5.2 Unit II (CAG) -- Green (Mighty Aggies)
5.3 Unit III (CEN) -- Maroon (Raging Dragons)
5.4 Unit IV (CVSM) -- Black and gray (Unbreakable Antlers)
5.5 Unit V (CASS) -- Brown (Flaming Cheetahs)
5.6 Unit VI (CBAA) -- Blue (Blue Chips)
5.7 Unit VII (CF) -- Red (Red Spines)
5.8 Unit VIII (CHSI) -- Pink and Gray (Blazing Phoenix)
5.9 Unit IX (COS) -- Teal White(Fearless Eagles)
6. Each unit must adopt a moniker.
7. Each unit must have a banner (3 x 5 foot) that will be used during the parade and raised in the
designated flag poles.
8. Format
8.1 Individual/Dual events. Knock-out system shall be used for competition in arnis,
taekwondo, karatedo, lawn tennis, table tennis, and badminton. Varsity players will be
automatically considered “BYE” during draw lots.
8.2 Team events. There will be two brackets for each event. Draw lots will be applied to
determine the teams for each bracket. Round robin per bracket will be played. Top two
(2) teams in each bracket will advance to the cross-over semis. Finalists will play a
winner-take-all title game.
8.3 In case of less than 5 units participating in a team event SINGLE ROUND ROBIN will be
applied.

9. Only faculty and a permanent staff must be assigned as coach per event and a student-coach can be
assigned as assistant coach.
10. Student volunteers will be trained by game supervisors. Both the student volunteers and game
supervisors shall observe neutrality at all times.
11. Awarding of trophies and medals to the top three teams/finishers shall be done immediately after
the championship game of each event.
12. Overall ranking shall be determined using the modified medal system. The Unit that garnered the
most number of gold medals will be declared champions. The number of silver and bronze medals,
in that order, shall be used to break a tie.
12.1 The number of medals to be awarded is based on the number of players required to play on
each event. Case in point; basketball M/W, 15 players per team, actual playing players during
MATCH/GAME is 5, medals to be awarded per team is 5. MEDALS will be awarded based on the
organic number of palyers actually competing or participating in each discipline NOT total team
players regardless of the format of competition.
13. The closing ceremony shall be conducted immediately after the conclusion of the last championship
game. If the last championship game is non-bearing or will not affect the over-all standing/ ranking,
the closing ceremony will be conducted without finishing the said game.
14. Rained-out/washed-out games shall be re-scheduled by the game supervisor in consultation with
the coaches of opposing teams.
15. The starts of championship games shall be subject to change to showcase the sport.
16. A team that does not have the minimum number of players required or does not appear in the
playing area 15 minutes after the last call shall automatically lose by default. Teams of the preceding
game shall be given 30 minutes to be present in the playing area after which the 15 minutes
defaulting time shall take effect.
17. The University Intramural Board (UIB), composed of the Vice President for Academic Affairs as
Chair, the ISPEAR Director and USSC Chair as co-chairs, the Sports and Recreation Department Chair
as member-secretary and the College Sports Coordinators and College council Presidents/Chairs as
members, has the authority to decide all matters relative to the Intramural Games. The decision of
the UIB is final.
18. Each event should follow the game mechanics agreed upon by the UIB. Any changes shall be subject
to the approval of the UIB.
19. The following mechanics shall govern each athletic event:
19.1. Archery. 30 meter double distance. 36 arrows to shoot (3 arrows per end) to determine
the overall individual ranking. Olympic round (4 ends of 3 arrows) and team event (3
players each team; 2 arrows per archer) shall also be played in a set point system. The
competition will have two (2) sets of winners, Varsity and non-Varsity players.
19.2. Arnis. Weigh-in shall be held at the Gymnatorium immediately after the opening program.
One player per weight category. A player may compete in a category one-step higher than
his/hers.
19.3. Athletics. There is no limit in the events to be played to all students.
19.4. Badminton. Knock-out system shall be played. Each unit is allowed a maximum of two
entries in singles events. Only one singles player maybe fielded in doubles event.
19.5. Baseball and Softball. Three (3) innings in elimination and five (5) semis, and seven (7)
innings in finals. All players in the team line up is allowed to play.
19.6. Basketball. Four quarters by ten (10) minutes. All players in the team line up is allowed to
play.
19.7. Beach volleyball. Best-of-three sets.
19.8. Chess. Individual event (by board). Four boards with one set of winner per board.
19.9. Football. Format is 45-15-45. Goal difference (Goal For minus Goal Against) will be used
in case of tie after elimination. All players in the team line up is allowed to play.
19.10. Futsal. Format is 20-10-20. Goal difference (Goal For minus Goal Against) will be used in
case of tie after elimination. All players in the team line up is allowed to play.
19.11. Karatedo. Knock out system shall be used. Weigh-in shall be held immediately after the
opening program at the Gymnatorium. One player per weight category. A player may
compete in a category one-step higher than his/hers.
19.12. Lawn Tennis. Knock-out system shall be played. Each unit is allowed a maximum of two
entries in singles events. Only one singles player maybe fielded in a doubles pair. A mode
of eight (8) games with only one (1) set shall be played. If the score is tied (7-7) a tiebreak
shall be played with seven (7) points with an advantage of two (2) points.
19.13. Sepak Takraw. Best-of-three regus. Maximum of 12 and minimum of 9 players is needed.
Warm-ups must be done before the start of the game. Only the coach can request for a
time-out. Two (2) substitutions is allowed to be consumed in each regu, but, the substitute
player who is already used in a regu cannot be used on the succeeding regus during
substitution. Fifteen (15) points per set on the eliminations and twenty-one (21) points
per set on the quarter finals to championship. Rules of Succession will be followed. All
players in the team line up is allowed to play.
19.14. Swimming. There is no limit in the events to be played to all students.
19.15. Table Tennis. Knock-out system shall be played. Knock-out system shall be played. Each
unit is allowed a maximum of two entries in singles events. Only one singles player maybe
fielded in a doubles pair.
19.16. Taekwondo. Weigh-in shall be held immediately after the opening program at the
Gymnatorium. One player per weight category. A player may compete in a category one-
step higher than his/hers. Knock out system shall be used. A player who will be playing
Kyurugi will not be allowed to compete in Poomsae vice versa.
19.17. Volleyball. Best-of-five sets in all games. All players in the team line up is allowed to play.
19.18. Mobile Legends. Teams will compete as all-male and all-female. The playoff stage will be single
elimination, with the top two (2) teams advancing to the Grand Finals. The elimination rounds and
semi-finals will be best of three games. The finals will be a best-of-five series.
19.19. Recreational Vlogging.
19.20. Mr. & Ms. Intrams. Each unit will be represented by one(1) male and one(1) female.
He/She must be a student of their respective colleges. The competition will be held after
the opening program.
20. Submission of events and line up.
20.1 The submission of events to be participated of the colleges is on September 15, 2023 at
5:00pm at ISPEAR.
20.2 The line up submission of the teams including substitutions can be changed until the first
game is not played.
20.3 Submission of form 6 (except high school students) is required to those students who will
participate in their respective events.

23. Any protest shall be filed after the culmination of the protested game. The protest should be
submitted within the day (5pm) and is free of charge.
23.1 If proven, there will be a forfeiture of the game against the violator(team).
24. The game supervisor shall submit the results of each game immediately to the Intramural
Secretariat.
