NATIONAL BASKETBALL

CHAMPIONSHIP – INTER-HIGH RULES


& REGULATIONS
All rules MUST be read and understood by each and every player’s/school
management BEFORE the tournament begin.

1. The tournament committee makes all final decisions concerning all


grievances: i.e. protest, eligibility, etc.

2. No entry fee will be collected.

3. 8 schools from each location will be the official participants with a total of
256 schools participating the tournament.

4. Each schools should have a maximum of 15 players in their roster.

5. Roster must be submitted to the tournament committee before the


opening day of each location. No adding of players when the tournament
start.

6. A team will be forfeited if it uses an ineligible player that is not on the


official roster.

7. Destruction or damage of property from the basketball court of each


location will be punished by proper authorities. The player or school will
pay for damages and will be automatically eliminated from the
tournament.

8. Every player should be officially enrolled to the participating school.

9. Tournament will be single elimination, knockout format where the winner


will advance to the next round and the loser will be eliminated from the
tournament.

10. All team must wear basketball jerseys during their games. Each jersey must
have the same color and they must have numbers. Basketball shoes must
be worn. All jewelry must be removed. Necklaces, earrings and watches
are not allowed during the game.
11. The team coaches are entirely responsible to make sure that their players
fully understand tournament rules and regulations.

12. All participants, coaches and spectators shall refrain from using profanity
or verbal abuse towards other players, coaches, spectators, referees and
the tournament staff.

13. The Tournament committee and the tournament staffs are not responsible
for any personal items that are left behind, lost or stolen.

14. Fighting is an attempt to strike an opponent with the arms, hands, legs,
feet or a combative action by one or more players, a coach or other team
personnel. Any member or team personnel who participates in a fight shall
be immediately suspended from the game and will be penalized
accordingly by the Tournament Commissioner and its Associates.

15. This is a Drug and Alcohol Free Event. No alcoholic beverages or drugs are
allowed on the premises. Any coach or player(s) engaged in the use of
alcohol or drugs will be disqualified from further participation in the
tournament.

SEEDINGS AND SCHEDULE

16. Coaches’ from participating schools will draw their seeding number. This
will also determine their opponent in the elimination round.

17. All rounds will undergo draw slot system to determine the seeding and
opponent except the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

18. The following are the seeding and matches of the tournament.

 BEST OF FIVE
 WINNER WILL BE CROWN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

19. A total of 7 games will be played in the Elimination round.


19.1 Four (4) schools will advance into the next round.
19.2 Four (4) schools will be eliminated in opening day.
19.3 Two (2) schools will advance in the 2nd day and will play in the last
day.
19.4 Winner from each elimination round will represent their province
going into the quarter-final.

20. A total of 7 games will be played in the Quarter-final round.


20.1 Four (4) provinces will advance into the next round.
20.2 Four (4) provinces will be eliminated from the tournament.
20.3 Two (2) provinces will advance and play in the last day.
20.4 The province who won will advance and play in the semi-final.

21. A total of 2 games will be played in the Semi-final round.


21.1 Semi-final will be played in best of three format.
21.2 Winners from the semi-final will advance and play in the National
Championship.

22. National Championship game.


22.1 National championship will be played in best of five format.
22.2 National Champions will receive ONE MILLION PESOS ONLY.
22.3 They will also receive trophy, medal, etc.

PLAYING RULES

23. GAME TIME & TIME OUTS:

 Game time = 40 minutes, divided into 4 quarters of 10 minutes each.


 Time out = 5 time outs per game, one for the first 3 quarters, 2 in the
final quarter one time out can be used in the last two minutes of the
game.
 The clock will stop for time outs.
 Time will run continuously throughout, except for the last two minutes
of fourth quarter.
 Clock will stop during dead ball.
 Overtime will be played for 5 minutes.

24. Each game will start with a jump ball at the center court.

25. Individual foul: 5 personal and technical will result to fouling out of the
game.

26. Team Foul: 2 free-throws awarded for each foul after the 5th team foul.
Technical foul is converted to 1 free throw.

27. Players who committed technical foul or unsportsmanlike foul must be


substituted and will sit for 3 minutes.

28. Players who committed a disqualifying foul for fighting will be banned from
the entire tournament.

29. Grace Period: A fifteen-minute grace period will be allowed for tardiness.
If at this point a team does not have five players to start, a forfeit will be
declared. The tournament committee have final say so on forfeits.

30. All other rules not mentioned in the house rules will be dealt according to
FIBA RULES AND REGULATIONS.
