Ancient Age of Roman Empire

 Rome's history began with its legendary founding by Romulus and Remus
in 753 BC, developing from a small settlement on the Tiber River.
It later transformed into a republic (509-27 BC) with elected officials and a powerful military, notably
winning the Punic Wars (264-146 BC) against Carthage, expanding its dominance in the western
Mediterranean.
 Julius Caesar's leadership marked the Republic's transition to the Empire, but he was
assassinated in 44 BC. Octavian, later Augustus, became the first Roman Emperor in 27 BC
expansion under Trajan in the 2nd century AD.
The Pax Romana, lasting from 27 BC to AD 180, brought peace, stability, and
cultural progress to the empire.
 1st century AD: Christianity emerged and spread in the Roman Empire, becoming
the official religion under Emperor Constantine in the 4th century AD.
3rd-5th centuries AD: The Western Roman Empire declined due to
internal strife, economic issues, and barbarian invasions, falling in AD
476.
Byzantine Empire: The Eastern Roman Empire, Byzantine Empire, thrived for
almost a millennium until it was conquered by the Ottoman Turks in 1453,
with its capital in Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul).
Medieval Age of Roman Empire
 In 330 AD, Emperor Constantine founded Constantinople as the Roman Empire's new
capital, initiating the Byzantine Empire
 The Byzantine Empire adopted Greek culture and language and played a pivotal role in
Christian development through key councils like Nicaea in 325 AD.
 Emperor Justinian I (527-565 AD) aimed to reclaim the Western
Roman Empire, codify Roman laws into the Corpus Juris Civilis, and
constructed the Hagia Sophia..
Decline of Roman Empire
Religious Changes-The rise of Christianity led to religious conflicts.Division of the Empire-
The split into the Eastern and Western Roman Empires in 285 CE weakened the west.
Political Instability-Frequent changes in leadership and assassinations weakened
central authority . Economic Decline-Devaluation of currency led to economic
instability.
