Good morning to the honourable judges, respected timekeeper, teachers and all my dear

friends. My name is Aida and I am Daphne Chloe. On this beautiful morning, we would like to
recite a poem entitled ‘The way I see the world” written by our English teachers, Madam Chiong
Ung Ping and Madam Fedelis Wee.

When I was first born

My mama and papa held me tight
In their arms
When I was crying,
They made me warm
With their snuggling
Kept me away from harm
With my brothers and sisters cuddling
As sweet as honey
Oh so lovely
The world was so tiny
There was nothing like my family
Who mean the whole world to me
The way I see the world
From the love of my family

When I was three

I stepped into kindergarten
I learned ABC and 123
Singing songs and moving my body happily
With guidance from teachers patiently
Playing blocks and rolling balls with friends joyfully.
The world was so big
Like you've never seen
I play and run and jump
Feel the sunshine on my rump
The way I see the world
From the love of my dear teachers and friends

Day by day,
I grow up older
The world becomes bigger
I see the sun up in the sky
And fluffy clouds that pass me by
The world is so bright
Full of colours day and night

The way I see the world

From flight of birds singing a tune
And flowers that bloom in nature
I love the trees that sway in the breeze
And the little bugs that crawl and tease
Oh the world is so beautiful!

The way I see the world

Start with the flow of a small stream
They go down through the valleys
Wandering on the plains
Gathered into one to the river
Flowing into the ocean
I love the cool breeze rushing to my face
And the little crabs that crawl in its own pace
Oh the world is so amazing!

And then I step into primary school

The world is now even bigger
The world is full of challenges
Each day brings something new
From lots of homeworks
To spelling test everyday
Happiness begin to fade away
Sometimes I’m really overtired
Living my tiring life uninspired
Oh! I’m so desperate wanna cry
The world is so scary
Oh! My schedule is so full
The world is so dull
Trying to fit in with my friends
While staying true to myself

But teachers and mama said

There's the pressure to succeed
To get good grades and make a plan
For a future that's still out of reach
So I come back stronger
Despite all of these challenges
I know I'll find a way
To keep moving forward
One step at a time
And make the most of every day

Yes, the world can be scary sometimes, that’s true

But I will see the world
With pure eyes
To discover the wonderful
Yes, the world can be dull sometimes, that's true
But I believe
With love and support
I'll make it through.
And though the world is big and wide
I know I'll find my place, deep inside

Don’t worry be happy

Let's dance and sing
Let's make a scene
The world is wonderful
Colourful and beautiful
Just come and dream!

Thank you
