Miesel Sefuentes Lopez is my name, it was Wednesday on September 29, 2004, that I was born

in the Citywide Maternity Clinic at Amber Street, Agdao, Davao City, an adorable and pale girl
almost 3 kg. My parents were Orlando Lopez and Juliet Lopez, who are married but currently
separated. I am the oldest of three siblings; the second is Arjay, 14 years old, with whom I
constantly argue, there will be no days that we won’t fight each other but I know that I have
him on my back and he will have mine too, and the youngest is Tristhan, 10 years old, he’s the
most spoiled of us. The three of us regularly fight and they are my source of both happiness and
stress.

When I was in grade four, my parents decided to immigrate in Davao City because my father’s
job was a jeepney driver and it is more convenient if we live there together with him. For the
past three years that we live there, it was quite good but slowly our family is drifting away. One
night, I wake up with a loud noises and sobs. I already knew what was happening. I found my
mother choking my father with her hands and at the same time cursing his name. I remember
how much I cried that night and begged them to stop but they did not, that was last time I saw
my family complete. I graduated in elementary at Teofilo V. Fernandez Elementary School with
no mother and for the first time I had my father on my side escorting me.
We then came back to Samal Island and live with our grandparents. From my earliest days, I
knew my family are struggling financially. My mother was on abroad and my father was still
working on Davao City, after they leave us, things are slowly changing. Living without your
parents was hard, there are days that I frequently cry and ask God “why I am living like this?”
but at the same time, I learn lots of things. I learn to be an independent, at the very young age I
taught myself to work hard and make my own money to sustain my needs and also to help my
grandparents. I used to hand wash my aunt’s clothes to gain money and use it for my school
allowance and also for my brothers. I had graduated my junior high school at Kaputian National
High School and now im currently attending at Anonang National High School to finish my
Senior High.

I am full time students, motivated by my love for learning and succeeding as I strive to become
an outstanding and successful woman someday. With the definitive goal of becoming a licensed
teacher and to have a sustainable life with the person I loved. I like to have a normal living and
at the same time doing the things that I love like drawing, painting, reading, playing badminton,
cooking, baking and most importantly enjoying this time with my loved ones.
