ACTIVITIES
1. Warm up: Categories - Pupils brainstorm films of different categories (types). Ask pupils what kind of film
PRE-LESSON
they like watching. (21st CA)

2. Pupils look at the pictures and decide what kind of story it is. (Activity 1)
3. Refer pupils to the pictures on pages 60-61. Pupils read the story quickly to check their ideas. However,
encourage pupils to relax, sit comfortably and read the story at their own pace. (Activity 2) (HOTS)
4. Ask pupils if they enjoyed the story. Encourage them to give reasons for their answers
LESSON
and to explain what they liked (or didn’t like) in particular. (CBA)
DEVELOPMENT
5. Pupils look at the vocabulary panel on page 60 and find the words in the text. Pupils guess the meaning of
the words in the box. (Activity 3)
6. Pupils identify the main theme of the story. Extend the discussion of the importance of playing outside as
well as inside (CCE: Values). (Activity 4)

POST LESSON  7. Cooler: Better in real life! activity.
