REQUIREMENT FOR GRADING

The grading system for a student in curricular or component courses of any degree program shall strictly comply
with the conditions or requirements as follows:
1. No provisional, conditional, or temporary final grade for any curricular or component course shall be given to a
student.
2. In case a student fails to take a final examination or submit an academic requirement for completion of a course
and that his/her scholastic performance is not sufficient to merit a final passing grade, an institution may, consistent
with its academic policies, give the student a final grade. Provided however, that where the failure to take the final
examination, or to submit the academic requirements, is due to excusable grounds, such as, sickness, emergency, or
accident, the institution allows special or completion examinations, or additional time for compliance of the
requirements to the student before the grades are finally submitted to the Registrar by the Course Instructor.
Otherwise, a grade of 5.0 will be given.

OFFICIAL DROPPING
Official dropping of a course shall be allowed before the mid-term examination period. After the mid-term, a
student may be allowed to drop a course only for a valid and justifiable reason; otherwise, a student is marked with
a “DRP” in that subject.

EXAMINATIONS
1. There are three major examinations scheduled during the semester: prelim, midterm and final examinations.
These are accordingly announced in the institutional academic calendar. No student shall be exempted from these
examinations.
2. A 2-day integrated period shall be scheduled before the examination to enable students to review, provided the
faculty members shall keep regular hours for consultation work.
3. The schedule of examination is specified in the Institutional Academic Calendar for the school year and shall be
observed unless otherwise changed to another date as authorized by the College President.
4. Students taking examinations should observe the following:
a. During examination, only students with Validated Examination Permits, Test Booklets and Student ID shall be
allowed to take the examination.
b. The permits of examination are to be given to the instructor or proctor of each subject before the start of a
particular examination.
c. No students are allowed to leave once the examination has started, except those who have finished taking it and
for personal necessities.
d. Students caught cheating shall be subjected to disciplinary action.
e. The following acts constitute cheating:
1. Unauthorized possession of notes or any material related to the examination whether the student
actually uses the same or not;
2. Looking at a seatmate’s examination paper or booklet;
3. Showing one’s papers or booklets to a seatmate or feeding the latter with answers.
f. A schedule of special examination organized and approved by the College Registrar is given to students who
missed to take it on the scheduled time ONLY by a reasonable ground such as sickness, emergency, or accident.
g. The special examinations are scheduled one (1) week after the scheduled examination.
h. A student who failed to take the special examination will be given a grade of average for the said examinations.
