CHAPTER I

PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE

Rationale

Senior high school students frequently experience stress, particularly those

who are set to graduate. The pressure to perform well on exams, uncertainty
about the future, and entering a new stage of life are some of the frequent causes
of stress. However, there are a number of tactics that can be used to stop stress-
related behaviors in seniors graduating from high school. Graduating from senior
high school can be a stressful time for many students. The pressure to perform
well academically, make important life decisions, and prepare for the future can
cause anxiety and stress. Unfortunately, this stress can lead to unhealthy
behaviors, such as procrastination, disengagement, and burnout. As such, it is
important to address and combat stress behavior in graduating senior high school
students. By doing so, we can help students manage their stress levels and
promote their overall well-being. This can lead to better academic performance,
increased engagement, and a more positive outlook on their future.

Anything that presents a challenge or threat causes stress to a person's overall

health. One can encounter it everywhere, even at school or at home. Academic
stress mostly affects students, as people experience numerous types of
stressors, including the strain of academics and the responsibility to succeed
(Noson & Shastri, 2016). Kötter et al. (2017) claim that stress negatively affects
has an impact on academic achievement and may become a vicious cycle of
rising prices. Lowering performance and stress. Thus, motivation is the capacity
for action on particular tasks. 2004 according to Bruinsma (quoted by Kori)
et al., 2016) claimed that increased motivation produces improved academic
results.

The problem of stress among graduating senior high school students is a

significant issue that affects their academic performance, mental health, and
overall well-being. In this response, we will discuss several strategies that can be
employed to combat stress behavior in graduating senior high school students.
Firstly, it is essential to encourage healthy habits among students. Eating well,
getting enough sleep, and engaging in physical activity can help reduce stress
levels and improve their overall well-being. Secondly, providing emotional support
is crucial. Creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable
discussing their concerns and feelings is essential. Counselors and teachers can
be trained to recognize the signs of stress and provide emotional support to
students who need it.

Thirdly, teaching stress management techniques such as deep breathing,

mindfulness, and meditation can help students cope with stress and anxiety.
Fourthly, fostering a positive mindset among students can help reduce feelings of
stress and anxiety. Encouraging students to focus on their strengths and
achievements can help them adopt a positive mindset.
Fifthly, providing academic support to students who are struggling with their
studies can help reduce the pressure to perform well and reduce stress levels.

Sixthly, teaching time management skills can help students effectively manage
their time and avoid feeling overwhelmed. This can help reduce stress levels and
improve academic performance. Lastly, fostering a sense of community among
graduating senior high school students can help students feel supported and less
isolated during a time of transition. Overall, these strategies can be implemented
to combat stress behavior in graduating senior high school students and help
them transition into the next phase of their lives with confidence and resilience.
