Well, I vividly remember the time I had a chance to travel with my friends in
Thailand, when I got lost in this unfamiliar location. Actually, this was the first trip of
the summer vacation so I decided to have a rest, explore the cuisine and visit famous
places in Thailand. In particular, we went on a self-guided tour so that we could enjoy
the time and choose the place according to our preference. When we arrived at the
most famous and largest market here, we split up to buy food and gathered to go back
to the hotel. Because I didn't know the directions, I made the decision to use Google
Maps, a very common online mapping app nowadays. However, when I finished
buying mango sticky rice and came back, I forgot that my phone ran out of battery and
suddenly it stopped working. Therefore, I was searching continuously for 2 hours
without any assistive devices. Moreover, I tried asking the locals for directions but
they couldn’t speak English and understand where my hotel was. Unfortunately, I had
been out working all day and I was on my last legs so I was really confused and tried
to calm myself down by waiting at the market. Luckily, a Vietnamese tourist noticed
me and helped me get back to the hotel safely. Personally, it was such a scary but
memorable experience that I need to learn from practice to be more prepared for the
next trip.
PART 3:
How can people find their way when they are lost?
I believe this phenomenon varies based on age groups. In fact, younger individuals are
more inclined to make use of the Internet, including GPS or online mapping
applications like Google Maps. Conversely, older generations might opt for traditional
navigation methods such as relying on personal experience, using paper maps, or
asking pedestrians for directions.
Generally, those equipped with effective life skills tend to remain composed and
quickly seek alternative routes upon realizing their predicament. On the contrary,
some individuals tend to react with panic, fear, and ultimately exacerbate the situation
further.
UNIT 10
Part 1: Outer space and stars
Have you ever learnt about outer space and stars?
To be honest, I haven't had the opportunity to study astronomy. Nevertheless, my
passion lies in delving into physics, as it enables me to explore the intricate laws
governing both our planet and the galaxy, thereby expanding my understanding.
Consequently, during my leisure moments, I often tend to search on the Internet to
gather information about diverse planets, stars, and gravitational forces.
Part 2: Describe an adventurous thing you did when you were a child
Part 3:
Why do people like to read adventure books rather than take an adventure?
I believe the reason adventure books captivate people is their ability to provide the
experience of thrilling journeys from the comfort of our familiar world. While real-life
adventures come with challenges and risks, books offer a secure way to experience
excitement through vivid imagination. This allows us to live through characters and
explore the unknown without stepping out of our comfort zones.
There are individuals who prefer to stay within their comfort zones and shy away from
taking adventurous journeys. These individuals often feel more at ease in familiar
surroundings and might be less inclined to embrace the uncertainties and challenges
that come with adventurous experiences.
Having an adventurous personality means being curious, open to new things, and
ready to face the unknown. People with this personality enjoy trying new experiences
and are not afraid of challenges. Therefore, they like exploring and trying different
activities, making them great candidates for having a lot of adventures.
UNIT 9
Yes, my country is home to a diverse array of wild animals. From lush forests to
serene mountains and even urban areas, there's a remarkable variety of wildlife that
coexists with our daily lives. It's fascinating how these creatures adapt to different
environments and contribute to the unique biodiversity of our region.
Indeed, I've had the opportunity to visit a zoo a couple of times, primarily during
school trips. These visits were both educational and engaging, as they allowed me to
observe animals I wouldn't encounter in my regular surroundings. It's quite captivating
to witness animals up close and learn about their behaviors, habitats, and the
conservation efforts in place to protect them.
Question 3: What is the animal you would like to see in the wild?
If given the chance, I would be thrilled to observe a magnificent tiger in its natural
habitat. Tigers are not only charismatic but also symbolic of strength and grace.
Imagining being in their environment and witnessing their natural behaviors, like
hunting or nurturing their cubs, is a truly exhilarating thought.
Part 3:
Children should learn to distinguish fake and real answers or just learn the
facts?
Jobs need to give information?
Doctors should give important information via emails or phone calls?
Online information wrong or right? How to know?
