INTEGRATION
CULTURAL n the picture we see a man surfing in the sea. Where does the force and motion of this object come
from? Discuss it in groups of three.
MULTICULTURAL Look at the pictures. One is a tropical climate where you can slide into a pool and the other is in
Alaska where you can slide down the snow. With a partner discuss in which situation you slide

A Participate actively during the classes giving ideas and comments about the topic.

EXPLORATION What is force? What is energy?

CONTEXTUALIZATION

What are the boys doing? Explain.

THEORETICAL BASIS
Force is just a pushing or pulling of something. If I push on something or pull on it, then I am
applying a force to it and to apply this force it is necessary to use energy. Force makes things move
and makes things change their position. Two natural forces that we have experienced are the force
of gravity and friction.

These two forces act at a distance and do not require direct contact between the objects to function.
Gravity produces a force that pulls objects towards each other, like a person towards the ground. It
is the force that keeps the Earth revolving around the sun and it's what pulls you toward the ground
when you trip. Friction is a force exerted when two surfaces are in contact with each other.

Energy
Energy is defined as the capacity to do work.

Kinetic energy - A moving object is capable of doing work because of its motion. Therefore, we can
say that the object has kinetic energy.

Potential Energy - The energy possessed by an object by virtue of its position is called its potential
energy.
