Volume and density Area
Area of a rectangle length x width = L x W
Volume of a cuboid V = length x width x height = L x W x H
Volume of a cylinder Area of a circle π r2
V = area of circle x length = A x L = π r2 x L Area of a triangle half (base x height) = ½ (B x H)
Graphs

For complicated shapes, calculate the area by
Formula for a straight line graph: breaking them down into simple shapes.
y = mx + c

Dimensions of a triangle Cost

Cost of material in a part =
Pythagoras theorem (for right angled triangles) C mass of material x cost per unit mass
A2 + B2 = C2 B (or cost of material = area of material x cost per unit area)
Line graph Bar graph
Labour to make a product =
A labour time x charge rate
Rearranging: A = √ (C - B ), B = √ (C - A ), C = √ (A + B )

Total cost of parts in a product =
H £ part1 + £ part2 + £ part3 etc.
Trigonometry O
Total cost to make a product =
tan θ = O / A sin θ = O / H cos θ = A / H θ cost of parts + cost of materials + labour cost
Pie chart A
Profit = sales price – total cost
