NOX Sensor and Control Module, Replacement
SCR Inlet
You must read and understand the precautions and
guidelines in Service Information, group 20, "General
Safety Practices, Engine" before performing this
procedure. If you are not properly trained and certified
in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training before
you perform it.

Vehicles equipped with US2010 emission compliant


engines have two NOx sensors, one that measures NOx
level before the exhaust enters the Selective Catalyst
Reduction (SCR) unit and one that measures NOx level
after the exhaust leaves the SCR. This procedure is for
both NOx sensor and control module locations.

Removal

Apply the parking brake and place the shift lever in
neutral.

Remove all cables from ground (negative) battery
terminals to prevent personal injury from electrical shock.

Remove right side chassis fairing, if equipped.

Follow lead from sensor and cut all tie straps that secure
the harness connector and sensor lead.

Disconnect harness from NOx control module.

Remove control module fasteners.

Installation

Apply a high temperature anti-seize compound to the
threads of replacement sensor. Install sensor and tighten
to specification.

Install control module fasteners. Tighten fasteners to
specification.

Connect harness to control module.

Secure harness and sensor lead with tie straps.

Reinstall the right side chassis fairing, if equipped.

Install all previously removed cables to the ground
(negative) battery terminals.
