Problem/Procedure Description
• How to establish communications with the S62, S100 and H100

Requirements
• Protomat S62, S100 or H100
• RS 232 communications cable
• PC with serial port
• Administrator rights to the PC

Problem/Procedure Solution
Verify the computer COMPORT settings are correct
1. Press the start menu on your computer.
2. Go to the control panel.

3. Double click on the system icon.


4. Select the hardware tab
5. Click on the Device Manager button.

6. In the list that comes up, click on Ports


7. Double click on COM 1
8. Go to the port settings tab
9. Verify the following information:
a. Bits per second: 57600
b. Data Bits: 8
c. Parity: None
d. Stop Bits: 1
e. Flow Control: Hardware

10. Click on the advanced button


11. Verify that the FIFO check box in the upper left is checked.
12. Verify that the FIFO sliders are all the way to the right.

13. Press OK.


14. Close all windows.
15. If any changes were made, restart the computer.

Verify the boardmaster shortcut


1. Right click on the boardmaster icon and go to properties.

2. Verify that the target location line is correct.


a. The target line should read C:\Program Files\LPKF52\BMaster\bmaster.exe" bm-eng.txt S62.ini
i. The only change on this line will be in between the bm-eng.txt and the .ini portion.
1. S62 is a Protomat S62
2. S100 is a Protomat S100
3. bm-h100 is a Protomat H100
4. bm-h100_2 is a Protomat H100

3. Click on the Apply button.


4. Close all windows

Verify boardmaster settings are correct.


1. Open boardmaster
a. Make sure that the Protomat milling machine is turned off.
2. If prompted to turn the machine on, press cancel.
b. This will allow access into the program.

3. If prompted, enter the tool status.

4. Go to the configuration menu and select connect.


5. Verify the following information
c. Selection: Channel
d. Machine type (choose one of the following):
i. S62 (Firmware 2.7.9)
ii. S100 (Firmware 2.7.9)
iii. H100 (Firmware 2.7.9)
e. Interface: RS232
f. Baudrate: 57600
g. COMPORT: COM 1

6. Turn on the machine.


7. Press OK in the connect screen.
8. Verify that the communcations is present.
h. Under the Red vacuum icon it should say COM 1
9. If you are still not able to communicate with the machine, check the F705 fuse on the mother board
(SMCU) inside of the controller box.
10. Replace F705 fuse and repeat the boardmaster settings section of this document.
