SUBJECT:
How to customize the wallpaper for imageRUNNER ADVANCE Next Generation Devices?

GENERAL:
This Technical Publication describes the procedure on how to customize the wallpaper for imageRUNNER
Next Generation Devices.

DETAILS:
The imageRUNNER ADVANCE Next Generation Devices allow customers to customize their Main Menu
User Interface background image (wallpaper) to be completely unique to their business or organization. The
customized wallpaper can include the company logo, custom image as well as personalized message and
reminder.

To help the customer to get the best results on their customized wallpaper, we recommend the customer
follow the following placement and pixel guidelines:

1. The button layout can be modified to accommodate design elements that can be adjusted from 3 to 16
button layouts.
2. The gray bars at the top and bottom will be carried out to other screens (ex. Copy and Scan and Store
Screens, etc.). Customized Wallpaper can change these bars to any color, but we recommend gray for
the best contrast with the text.

Importance Note:

Q. Where are the “safe areas” to design?

A. When designing a background keep in mind that on screen text is not editable (e.g., “Select a Function” on
the Main Menu). In order to accommodate your design the button layout can be modified, and you can even
hide the “Show All” button.

Q. How many customized backgrounds may be uploaded?

A. Up to 20 custom backgrounds are supported on each device.

Q. Can I change the name of the custom background when selecting from the list of available
wallpapers for the Main Menu?
A. No, Backgrounds will be listed as “Other Settings 1”, “Other Settings 2” and so on.

Q. What happens if I try to upload a file that has the same name as a file that has already been
uploaded (ie. Custom_Background_bg.png)?
A. You will receive an error message from the RUI. Please change the file name and try again (e.g.
Custom_Background_2_bg.png)

Q. How do I delete backgrounds?

A. This will require a service technician to implement service mode setting. Once the device is in Service
Mode, open up the RUI with the same url (IPADDRESS/bgimport). Click Delete All. This will delete all of
the custom backgrounds until you import new ones.

Q. Can I delete just one background?

A. No. You can only delete all custom. You can upload the files that you would like to keep back onto the
device after a deletion
