How to customize the wallpaper for imageRUNNER ADVANCE 3rd Generation Devices III Edition?
This Technical Publication has been revised to add the layout dimension for three and six buttons.

GENERAL:
This Technical Publication describes the procedure on how to customize the wallpaper for imageRUNNER
3rd Generation III Edition Devices.

DETAILS:
The imageRUNNER ADVANCE 3rd Generation III Edition Devices allow customers to customize their
Home screen background image (wallpaper) to be completely unique to their business or organization. The
customized wallpaper can include the company logo, custom image as well as personalized message and
reminder.

To help the customer to get the best results on their customized wallpaper, we recommend the customer follow
the following placement and pixel guidelines:

1. The button layout can be modified to accommodate design elements that can be adjusted from 3 to 15
button layouts.

Customized Wallpaper cannot change the color of these bars.

PROCEDURE:
A. Service Mode Configuration
1. Access Service Mode Level 1, and then select
“Mode List”

2. Select “Copier”

3. Select “Option”

4. Select “FNC-SW”

5. Navigate through the pages to find the “SVC-RUI”,


and select it.

6. Enter any number from 1 to 65535

Note:
This number will be the “password” that you need
to enter in the Remote UI in Step 2.

7. Click “OK”, and leave the device in Service Mode

B. Remote User Interface Configuration


1. Enter http://<device IP address>/hmbgimport
into the address bar of Microsoft Internet http://ipaddress/hmbgimport
Explorer.

Note:
1. This URL will only available when the
service mode switch has set to any value
other than 0.

2. When an imagePASS device is attached,


the Menu Background Upload page can be
accessed via
http://<device_ip_address>:8080/hmbgimport

2. Click “Browse” and locate the image file


that will be imported to the device.

Note:
Only Files that meet the specific pixel and
file format can be uploaded. Please refer to
the “Details” section in this Technical
Publication for more information.

3. Select your image file and then Click


“Open”

4. Enter the password that you entered in Step


A-6 in the Service Mode Configuration.

5. Click “Start Importing”

6. Click “OK” when the “The image file has


been imported” window is displayed.

C. Local User Interface Configuration


1. Login as Administrator or System Manager
from the device Local User Interface

Note:
These steps are only necessary if you have
system manager ID or User Authentication
is enabled.

2. In the Home Screen, select the [Menu] icon.

3. Select “Wallpaper Settings”

4. Select the “page down” button to the next


page

5. Select “Other 1”
6. Select “OK”

Note:
You can upload up to 20 images , the
images will be named “Other 1”,”Other
2”,etc.

7. The new custom wallpaper should be


displayed on the Local User Interface.

Importance Note:

Q. How many customized backgrounds may be uploaded?


A. Up to 20 custom backgrounds are supported on each device.

Q. Can I change the name of the custom background when selecting from the list of available
wallpapers for the Main Menu?
A. No, Backgrounds will be listed as “Other 1”, “Other 2” and so on.

Q. What happens if I try to upload a file that has the same name as a file that has already been
uploaded?
A. You will receive an error message from the RUI. Please change the file name and try again

Q. How do I delete backgrounds?


A. This will require a service technician to implement service mode setting. Once the device is in Service
Mode, open up the RUI with the same url (http://IPADDRESS/hmbgimport). Click Delete All. This will
delete all of the custom backgrounds until you import new ones.

Q. Can I delete just one background?


A. No. You can only delete all custom. You can upload the files that you would like to keep back onto the
device after a deletion
