The narrative states that the Separatists were willing to take a risk for God by sailing to the New World. A good example of someone who took great
risks was Abraham (originally known as Abram). Though the risks that Abraham took were huge, they were measured and balanced because he knew
the character of God. He trusted God. Read Genesis 12:1-5 then answer the following questions:

1. Is there a greater risk than leaving your home and family, where you feel safe and secure, for the unknown?

2. Was there an instance in your life that you have taken the risk for God? What was the outcome? Share.
3. What do you possess that you are willing to give to Jesus? Take a picture of yourself while doing something for the Lord. Write captions about the
picture taken describing the activity. Paste your picture/s inside the box.

For example: A picture of you while giving food to the street children. This is a way of showing god’s love by spending your personal time, money
and effort for the benefit of others who are in need.

We (the youth) in our church decided to feed children from our place for Global Youth Day.

l. The Bible has a great deal to say regarding the use of our minds. While pointing out the importance and necessity to think and to reason, it also
warns of the dangers and limitations.
Read the following texts and show how each bible verse relates to the heading/title.

IMPORTANCE AND NECESSITY (Kinahanglanon):

A. Matthew 22:37 – to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind
B. Romans 14:5 - we should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable
C. Philippians 4:8 - we should think about anything that is excellent or praiseworthy

DANGERS AND LIMITATIONS:

A. Proverbs 3:5-7 – we must trust the Lord always and lean not on our own understanding
B. Romans 8:7 – we must not live with sinful nature, for this does not obey God, and it never will
C. Romans 12:3 - one must not think that they are better than they really are

2. The Scripture reveals God not only as the Creator but also the Sustainer of all that He has created. Deism speaks of a Higher Power that is totally
removed from the universe. Summarize each of the texts below that relate to this issue (Deism and what the Bible speaks about God).

A. Psalm 139:7-16 – wherever we go, God is there, with his hand he will guide us, for he fearfully and wonderfully made us
B. Acts 17:24-28 – God doesn’t need us, for he gave breath to everything, he satisfies our needs, and He created us. It is us who need him, he is not
far from us, for in him we live, move, and exist. We are his offspring.
C. Colossians 1: 16, 17 – everything was made by God and for God. He made the things we can and cannot see.

3.John Wesley experienced intense disappointments and defeats, yet these became the very avenues that God used to change Wesley and prosper his
ministry. What does the Bible say about how God works in our lives? Read and summarize the following texts:

A. Romans 8:28-39 – God causes everything to work together, God knows his people in advance, and chose them to be like his son, and he called his
people to come to him and gave them his glory. Nothing can ever separate us from God, no matter what problems come our way, not even death or
life, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

B. James 1:2-5 – when troubles come in our way, we must consider it an opportunity for great joy. When our faith is tested, our endurance has a

not rebuke us for asking.
